05 Freestyle awd cvt.In park the car wont rev past 2800, disconnect the maf it goes into fail safe mode and then I can rev it all I want.Replace maf, gas pedal and throttle body with 3 known good ones

You did good, and we know engine (efi fails)and is not the transmission..
that trick you did (TPS) causes forced limphome mode,and this trick hides things.like
dead MAF.


If in USA< and have 3.0L v 6
the car has an OBD2 port under the dash.
and we scan it first.
if it says mAF fails it is.

scan it to learn if the EFI system sees sensors dead, ETC
you must scan it first

P0101 , dirty air filter or dead or just dirty, MAF
scan it and as for help on DTC errors seen, tell them all.
after TPS put back. sure.

I don't know about Nissan but my 2006 Ford Freestyle AWD CVT transmission was a high pressure sealed system requiring a special pumping machine to change the fluid. It didn't even have a dip stick. Does yours have a dip stick? If not, I suspect that you'll be in a similar boat. My Ford had to have the engine and transmission partly removed from the car to replace the high pressure fluid filter. Cost? $500.00 U.S. at the Ford dealer. No other shop would touch it. Good luck.

If you hit the Rev Limiter on a Ford, it will simply bounce the rev back down, to protect the Engine. So, no high Revs. But, you should be able to bring it slowly to a High RPM. That is normal. If there are no Check Engine Light on. You are most likely hitting the rev Limit and need to stop.

module says std automatic and not a CVT transmission
when a module goes into fail safe you always have reverse and third

check oil level first
wont select
check shift cables or linkages adjustment shift stick alignment

revs out
more likely a solenoid or mechanical failure
if there is a bang as you shift into reverse its the oil pump

if none of the above are the cause
could be the module ......not sure on that

In park, this could be normal. ECU does this. around 2800 to 3500 RPMs. If driving, have the codes read. No codes , could be a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump(have the pressure checked), or clogged catalytic converter/s. With no codes, something is restricted..

your on board computer thinks there is a different tranny,nothing is going to work right

this is caused by worn ring and pinion gears, there is no fix except a rear end overhaul

According to the Ford shop manual, the cvt transmission has a transmission fluid dipstick located on the front of the transmission (drivers side between the radiator and trans. The fluid should be checked with the transmission temp between 190deg F and 198deg F ( I think hot engine covers it) running in park. The fluid should be in the crosshatched area of the dipstick. With the the transmission between 109deg f and 117deg f running in park the fluid should be at the bottom hole of the dipstick. This whole procedure is based on your being able to monitor the transmission fluid temperature. If you have a scan tool that shows you live data and you are able to monitor the temp, good. But if you don't own a scan tool and buying one would cancel out the savings of doing your own trans service................ then if it were me I would top off the fluid at the hot (190-198deg f) temp adding a little at a time until I was just near the top of the crosshatch area. I think logic prevails here. If the manual wants the fluid at the bottom hole with a cool trans then we must assume that when the trans is hot it wont be above the top hole. And I also want to add that if this fluid level was this critical then I would think I would have alot of freestyles going thru my shop with transmission concerns as soon as one sprung the smallest leak.

have 05 freestyle trouble code p2106 came up dealer said it was eletronic throttle body what is this part

I work at a Ford dealer and we have seen very little trouble with this trans-axle. We replaced a mectronics unit in one and replaced one complete assembly, other then that we have had no trouble with them and personally would have no fear of buying one.
