I thought it was the bearings had them checked,no,then i was told it was the parking brake rubbing so i let the guy take it out,but it got worse,now i am told i need a whole emergency parking brake assmbly.I just want the noise to stop.We hiked the car up and just let the rear wheels turn and all you hear is a rubbing noise as the wheels turn.what is it? If i need a whole new parking brake assembly will it stop the rubbing? is it expensive to fix? Does any of this sound familiar?

Rub your hand over the tread and try and feel for cupping or uneven tread patterns. This will create alot of road noise. If not, have your wheel bearings checked.
If it is really loud rubbing sound, its either brake pads or could be your rotors. Typically these do not wear out at the same time. Defintely have them checked out, but before going anywhere, make sure to check your brake fluid level as it may be low on fluid that is necessary to apply the brakes and their functionality is dependent upon it.
How many miles on your 328? My son's car was making a grinding noise and our independent mechanic told me it was the rear differential. I assumed he was correct and bought a replacement. However, before I installed it, I noticed the outer 3/4" of his passenger side rear rotor was discolored and no longer shiny. His brake caliper was grinding the rotor! It was because the hub bearing was so badly worn. I replaced the bearing and all is well.
Black the rear wheels, put the car in neutral with the parking brake on, jack up the front end and spin the tires. Once you locate the source of the noise, you can pull the tire off and check the brake pads and rotors.
hi this sounds like your brake pads have worn, or the brake shoes as well, if you have drum brakes on the back it will be shoes, if disk brakes will be pads+shoes (inside the disk) if it was the wheel bearing you would hear a loud humming noise not rubbing noise, is it a metallic rubbing noise or a rubber squeaking rubbing noise? just check condition of tyre on back if it is the squeaking rubber noise cost will depend on where you take it and if you do it yourself, possibly $40 to $50 at a garage/auto shop or possibly $20 to $30 if you do it yourself, this just depends ...hope this helps
usually noise complaint can be pretty tricky to repair. especially if its intermittent. since you say it only when its cold my first guess would have to be a wheel bearing. some other things you can check is how the tires are wearing. when you rub your hand along the tread is it smooth or does the tread catch your hand. if your tires aren't wearing smooth noise complaints can be heard while slightly turning, braking, or even accelerating.also if its a wheel bearing you can lift the vehicle up in the rear (turn off your dsc) and run the rear tires up to speed. usually you can hear a loud wheel bearing. also you can drive the vehicle and swerve back and forth and see if the nosie changes. depending on which side of the vehicle suspension is being loaded
I would think that your parking brake cables and/or the park brake pivots may be seized. It appears that your rear brakes are being kept on by one or both of the abovementioned problems.
By the way i just had the front and back brakes repaired.
