You need to get a code reader that will read abs codes.

you should have your vehicle scanned with OBDII.(on board diagnostics) . take it to a shop and tell them your engine light is on and they'll hook a computer to it and find out why

SOURCE: Check Engine light and traction control light stay

there is nothing to do here but have the dealer run a scanner test to see what trouble codes were set with the lights coming on, until then there is no way to tell what the problem might be as there are over 200 possibilities.

SOURCE: The ABS,Brake Light,Battery light go on and off sporadically while driving.Does this indicate an Alternator failure or a sensor/computer problem?

yes it's most likely a alternator problem, usually the internal diode bridge breaks causing all lights you mentioned to come on,if this happens at a idle open the hood and remove green connector on alt.if lights go out you've found the problem

SOURCE: For 2001 Forrester Subaru - Front Windshield Washer fuse

If it makes noise, it's not the fuse. Most likely the discharge nozzles are stopped up. Try blowing compressed air into them from the outside.

How to check speed sensor on 1999 Subaru forester

if abs is failed light off speed sensor is fine. if on and no speedo then its the sensor. if no abs light and no speedo then the problem is from the abs unit to the ecu to the speedo and any other device in line, like sunroof etc as the signal is though there. also to rule out speed. speedo should jump a bit back when power is turned on from ignition if not then its between the connection to the dash and speedo. sensor is on passide for speedo and abs.

Why would the abs light be on?

Each wheel has a magnetic sensor and a slotted ring that generates the ABS pulse. The sensor can get dirty (rust, mud and brake dust) and have to be cleaned. The replaceable slotted ring often rusts in older cars. The cable from the wheel sensors to the body, while very tough, can get damaged or disconnected. Its usually the front ones.

You may need new rotors.
Subarus requires the same make and size of tires front and rear. Mixing sizes can cause a mismatch in the ABS signals from each end, and this will often cause the ABS light to come on.
The ABS computer may have failed.

If ABS is working more or less correctly, hitting the brakes on loose dirt or snow/ice should result in the pedal kick back and the buzzing of the ABS valve system.

Engine check light comes on

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour to reset the computer? If that doesn't work I think the Vacuum Pressure Sensor is in the black box with all the vacuum hoses going to it beside the air filter housing. Not sure tho, subaru will tell you where it is & how to test it if you ring them & ask for the workshop.

I have a 2005 Subaru Forrester. While driving the

It probably is the converter. The check engine light has nothing to do with maintenance at all, nor does it really directly concern the engine. The check engine light comes on for emmission purposes. Such as converter, loose gas cap and all kinds of sensors.
