My key wouldn't work. I had my son climb through the back seat to unbolt the assembly. Once I had the trunk open and the assembly apart, I saw that there was a little white plastic 'gate' that would not allow the key to release the lock. It may be related to the RF in my key and it just stopped allowing the trunk to be opened. It would not open from the driver's seat release either. I saw that when the little white plastic finger 'gate' would move, the key would open the lock. I realized that if that little white thing wasn't there, my key would work. Out with my wire cutter and I clipped that little thing off and now my lock works fine. Good luck.

Sounds like the linkage to the latch has come undone. What sucks about that is you usually have to take the back seat out to gain access. Once you hae the trunk back open it is somewhat easy to reattach the linkage.

Pull the back rear seatand try to get into the trunk, they usually have a tab that you pull it and can open the trunk, most likely a broken linkage

SOURCE: My 2000 mitsubishi galant trunk

Sorry my friend, I think you won't find one....The best way is to fold back the carpet and locate the end of the broken cable, and then take a pair of pliers and pull the cable from there...
When it comes to replacing the cable it would be easier to remove the front and rear seats enabling better access to the cable....Then fold back more of the carpet.
There is usually a ten millimeter nut holding down the lever.... Remove that and then remove the trunk locking mechanism....That will mean removing two additional ten mil bolts
With those removed unhook the cable from the lock....It will have a small round ball at the cable end. This can easily be removed via the slot provided.
Tape the new cable to the end of the old one....Unhook any outer cable retaining clips you find, so the the cable cannot be caught anywhere.Refit in the cable into the trunk lock mechanism, this so that the cable cannot be pulled all the way through, if you should pull too far....gently pull the cable through
Refit the lever to the floor and then refit the trunk mechanism....The rear cushion is released by pulling upwards and fitted back by locating the retaining tongues into their slots....To remove the front seat, move all the way forward to remove the bolts at the rear of the rails and then slide it back to get the front ones removed....
Sorry I couldn't help any other way....Regards Johngee10

SOURCE: trunk wont open on a

I don't know if yours has it or not, but on later models you can pull down the center arm rest/cup holder in the back seat. Behind that is a small panel or door that you can open that leads to the trunk area. If you reach inside the opening and to the left, there should be a pull handle to release the trunk lid.

My 2000 mitusbishi glant trunk will not open

If you go to Sears or any large dept. store you can puchase a 24" long flat head screwdriver. Using this and a flash light you'll see a slot on the release mechanism right in the center rear of the trunklid. Turn it clockwise to open the trunk. Yuo'll probably find some small object has lodged in the catch. Oh by the way, have someone on the outside lifting occasionally while you turn the screw driver. Best of luck, Dana

2000 Intrepid Trunk Lock

All newer vehicles have an emergency manual trunk release inside the trunk.

This should be basically a rip cord directly attached to the trunk locking mechanism. Most modern ones have a yellow handle on the ceiling of the trunk that will release the trunk latch if it is pulled. Yours may be a different color, but if you get in there with a flash light you can probably trace a steel wire from the trunk latch back to some sort of handle that looks like you can pull it. Its definitely worth a shot.

Key and latch pull donot work on my truck lock how can i open trunk

You can try to get inside the trunk by removing the passenger seats. From inside there should be the lock mechanism.Usually there is a way to open the trunk from inside(for safety reasons so noone will lock himself in to the trunk).

2000 Mercury Couger

Good news and bad news.....

Inside the trunk is an emergency pull cord. When you turn the key there is a little piece on that cord that the key pulls on... you can only fix it with the trunk open though. So, to open it, get the remote or have a second person to open the trunk right after you press the button. Open it while the latch is rewinding.

Trunk is broken.

With the trunk open try putting the key in and turning so that the latch swings open. This may be the problem. The latch may be stuck closed. with the key turned make sure the latch is open if it is not then take a scrwedriver and pry on the latch with the key turned to open it. Then try to close the trunk. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer. thanks.

Car trunk problem

Open the boot with the key and ask someone to activate the lever while you have a look on the latch in the boot. You should see the cable moving if not, it might be broken or just disconnected.
Cheers.
