Bags deployed during light bumper wreck
Dan Hopper is correct, you're going to need to scan it and find out which impact sensors may have been tripped, and either get the SRS module flashed or replaced to clear the crash data is the only way you'll get the light to go off after replacing the bags and sensors, and the seat belt pretensioners it's hard to say, but if they were tripped those will need to be replaced also. Remember to fully discharge the system because even if the battery is disconnected, I believe Ford's all the charge for 20 to 30 minutes in the system, at least that long. So be sure be sure be sure that the system has discharged just give it enough time wait a day after disconnecting the battery just to be sure, because if your face is right next to that airbag and it goes off it can easily kill you, I don't recommend for people to work on their airbag systems unless they know exactly what they're doing, if one of those sensors is still tripped or the module is it cleared correctly it could trip the airbag and with your head right next to it or in front of it that close it could be a very dangerous situation. Many firefighters have been killed my airbag systems after disconnecting the battery cutting people out of the car while leaning over them between them in the steering wheel or side impact airbags going off with her head right there. So please be aware and keep your face and head away from the air bag
You will probably need to change the air bags, diagnostic module, and possibly the seat belt pre-tentioners. And any impact sensors that might have received damage.

That is the only sensor to trigger the bags. The new module needs to be programmed to the car by the dealer or someone with a scan tool capable of that.

The airbag light staying on could be an indication that the abs computer ( located under passenger front seat ). may have gotten wet. These cars usually let water in from the front strut towers. The light staying on indicates a problem with the computer, possible things that could happed:
a: air bag DOES not deploy in an accident.
b: air bag does deploy for no reason whatsoever.
either of those could be bad.
best to have it inspected by a certified abs tech or the dealer

easy fix.
the drivers airbag comes with the steering wheel. To remove it, snap off the plastic cover at the bottom of the steering wheel. there will be a screw which you need to remove. You will be unscrewing it for quite some time and the wheel will only wobble but eventually it will come off. Disconnect the wires. To replace, put the new steering wheel on trying to align the pin and screw it back in. don't forget to connect the wire. To remove the passenger side, open the glove compartment, squeeze both sides of the back to let the glove compartment fully open. There are 3 nut that you need to remove and a wire. To replace, just do the opposite.
Most likely, you will have to replace the airbag control module also. On this particular year and model, it is located behind the storage compartment below the radio. To remove, unscrew 4 screws (2 on each side of the compartment), disconnect the 12v lighter plug and remove. The computer is located in the very back and has 3 nuts holding it down. There is an arrow on it pointing to the front of the vehicle. Remove the nuts, unplug the wires and get a computer which has the exact same code as yours.
Sometimes, (as was in my case) when the airbag went off, my seatbelts went off and locked in place. To replace, remove the plastic cover off of where the seat belt slides through (near the top of the door post) and unscrew the nut then remove/move aside the plastic trim and unscrew 1 bolt below the seatbelt roll and remove. The last bolt is located between the seat and door. Pick up the carpet and unscrew.
