If it sounds like air sucking it may be a vacuum line to the MAP sensor which could trigger a false MAP code .

The code doesn't tell you what to replace just that the computer thinks there is a problem on that system. Did you check sensor wiring circuits? Black wire should be ground--gray wire--ref voltage about 5 volts. The lite green wire signal to computer. The map sensor also needs vacuum.
Use a digital multimeter on signal wire, engine idling. What is the reading? Just for comparison, at idle the tps and map signals should be close to the same reading, won't be exact. If several volt difference that isn't right. In my opinion.

Like its bogging down real bad.

  • Robert Wood
    Robert Wood Dec 31, 2018

A clogged vacuum line to the MAP sensor, low fuel pressure from clogged filter or restricted injectors, bad knock sensor causing timing retard .

SOURCE: how do i know if brake booster is gone ? 2001 gmc

Do you by any chance hear a hissing noise from under the dash? If so, yes, you have a bad booster. For it to do what you're saying, it would almost have to have a vacuum leak. However, if there is a problem with something in the ABS system, you should have an ABS warning light on. Also, ABS can make the pedal fade, but I've never heard of it making the pedal hard. Your diagnosis of a brake booster does sound likely, but I'll admit I can't be sure -- this is an odd one.

SOURCE: 92 jeep wrangler 5 spd 4 cyl skipping and bogging

Replace the catalyst convertor. When a convertor goes bad, the guts of it break apart and end up clogging the exit port. One of its functions is to remove toxins from the air. Helps the emission system to run rich or lean gas exhaust.

What's making my Sonoma shake hard with noise 2001 4 cyl.

It can be one of the following . Spark plug , wires and distributor need changing. ( also check on the condition of the battery ) however 9 times out of ten it is the coils that's going. Not expensive but usually over looked. First sign is loss of gas mileage and then the shaking on idle and not really running right at speed to not being able to start

2001 GMC SONOMA overheated .. replaced radiator and water pump.. now at starting, the engine shakes a lot . after a few minutes , runs smooth ( normal) need help. any clues??

check to see if the wires are connected good to the mass air flow sensor located in the air filter hose assembly, its possible that when you replaced the water pump the connection was disconnected, making the truck run rough at start up and after warming up run a little smoother. I would also affect the acceleration going down the road.

99 gmc sonoma 4.3 timing chain is it hard to do?

Its not the easiest Gm ever gave us. you have to remove the oil pan to get the front cover off and there is also a balance shaft that tends to make more noise after you do the timing chain. A lot of technicians end having to do it twice because of the noise after.
