Needs to be silicon grease, can get in a can or a tube. wd40 can take the paint off or discolour the area, and even damage the roof linings.

SOURCE: Door very stiff won't close tight

I have the same problem with the side doors of my 04 express. I put penetrating oil on the hinge pin with a hypodermic needle (hard to find). It is important that the oil gets into the hinge. I bent one set of hinges and broke a hinge because I waited too long to oil the hinge. The door may not close correctly because the hinge may be slightly bent. Keep all other hinges well lubed especially during the winter months when the hinges can be exposed to road salt. Fixing a bent hinge is difficult at best.

Gear Stiff On 1995 Chevy Lumina

I think this is an actual cable which hangs up in cold weather..find the cable ends under the hood near both the transmission and the steering column end.. each end should have a rubber cover on it..take a can of wd40 spray lube put the little red tube into the spray nozzle of the can.. insert the end of the red tube under the rubber boot and spray a few seconds worth of this into the booth coating it really well...then without starting the car(turn the key to the run position to unlock the system) slowly work the shifter up and down between gears and you should feel it work easier as you move it up and down..do this each time it becomes harder to work the shifter..also do the base of the column where it comes to the outside of the car body..road dirt and grit build up here and cause stifness also..

Can a stiff gear shifter be caused by a bad ignition switch

try spraying some WD40 or similar into the ignition switch, it may have run a bit dry
use a thin tube which you should get with the lubricant and put the end of it into the key hole and give it a squirt
hope this helps

Streetka car alarm

Hi Sophie Probably just the hood store lid.
Unlock the hood. Pull up the rear screen and open the hood store lid. Slam the hood store lid shut making that the locks on BOTH sides are holding it down and then replace the hood. The alarm will not set correctly unless both the locks are in position. Adrian

1995 Chevy suburban back door hinges too stiff

Lubricate the hinge or the hinge will have to be replaced.. I recommend wd40 first, then a finger tip amount of grease on top of hinge pin. the oil from the grease will keep the hinge constantly lubricated. It's not too late.

Shifting gears very stiff.

I am afraid I bare bad news... the transmission is suffering from swollen selector fork bushings. ATF fluid swells the bushings up, it used to be what was used to lubricate the transmission. however ford has long ago changed the specs to what is called Ford Honey manual trans oil its has a brown honey color or royal purple synchomax. they only fix for this is to replace the selector forks and inly use ford honey manual trans oil. there is a TSB issued for the fluid.
