SOURCE: unable to start my 2001

I would look to see if the anti-theft light is on next to the door lock. A 95 cabrio did this when I was test driving it. All we did was get out of the vehicle and manual lock and unlock the car, then it went away. This could definitely be more complicated than this, but always worth a try.

SOURCE: VW Passat turbo broken

Pricing for the replacement will vary widely based on who does the work, but you'll typically find better prices at an independent shop than at a dealership. When you choose an indie shop though, make SURE they're a Euro specialist. You honestly don't want a guy working on your high-tech turbo engine when he spends his days wrenching on Mustangs and Chevy trucks. As for whether you have to do it - yes you do. The turbo is an integral part of the car and the car won't run well at all (and will likely degrade further) if you don't fix it.

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Toyota

My 2004 v6 2wd highlander has the same battery, and I am just now replacing it. What is that 7 years? I found via google that it has 550 CCA. I think it would have lasted longer if not for kids leaving lights on every few weeks and an unusually cold winter for this far south.

Testimonial: "I checked my electrolyte levels in the battery and added some distilled water and I feel like I'm ready for another 2 yrs on this battery. Tks 4 fdbk"

No start on a 2003 VW Passat 2.8 6cyl . Drove fine to store.. I tried to crank made a funky click sound but cranked on 2nd try..Got home turned it off & it wont crank..Makes single click

Sounds like your battery is very low on charge, or you have a bad connection between the battery and starter or ground. Check that the battery cables are clean and tight on the battery, and that they are securely connected at the starter (positive) and frame/engine (negative). If everything looks good there, charge your battery, then bring your car to AutoZone/Advance Auto/O'Reilly's, etc and have them check your battery and alternator.

I have a 2000 VW 4 motion passat and the car won't crank it sounds like its out of gas but i just put gas in it . Will the hole in the transmission pan cause it not to crank or is it something else?

If by "won't crank", you mean you get nothing when you turn the key, that could mean that you have a dead battery. It could also mean that your hole in the trans pan has caused the trans to lock up. Perhaps if you describe your problem in more detail we can help better.

On a 2007 vw 2.0 passat where are the timing marks

If you're lucky there should be an arrow or notch on the rear cam cover near the cam sprocket and another mark on the cam sprocket itself. Otherwise there is a set of special tools to lock the crank and cam in place.

Here's so you can see:
http://www.baumtools.com/uploads/files/VW%20Timing%2004-11.pdf

Then use a paint pen to mark the crankshaft gear - some have one short too, some have a dot some have nothing hence the reason it's easier to mark it yourself.

2000 1.8t vw passat wont start

There are many possible issues that can cause the problem you are experiencing. A bad starter, a bad ignition switch, relay, wiring circuit for ignition / cranking.

If you are mechanically inclined, I recommend you begin to test all components to narrow your possible problem.
