Do not drive vehicle without bleeding brakes first. You can switch brake pads or change rotors without bleeding but never when changing a caliper.

Mighty Mac makes a vacuum tool with a small brake adapter for catching fluid from the brake system. Imitators use similar designs. Then there is gravity bleeding which you can look up on the Web. There is a one-way valve which can be connected on one caliper at a time or finally some put out 4 bottles filled with brake fluid and hoses from each brake bleeder. The bleeders are opened and the owner pumps the brakes himself until pressure is good on pedal. The owner then tightens each bleeder before removing brake hoses to auxillary bottles.

The last method is shaky because the hoses can pop off if not secure to brake bleeder and then system can vent air and you would need to redo.

SOURCE: ford f250 diesel . front brakes come on when

has anything been done with master cylinder or booster or brake light switch?? if the adjustment is off, the master will not release the brakes even if the pedal is back, although its rare if nothing has been replaced recenlty, next time the brakes drag, loosen the master bolts (2) about 1/8" and see if they release, if so either the adj is off or the master cyl is bad.

2008 mercury mariner can i bleed myself because it has ABS brakes or does it need to be done at a shop with special tools or special equipment ?

If you let the master cylinder run dry and now have air in the ABS, you need a scan tool to bleed the air out of the ABS. If you're just replacing a caliper and don't let the MC run dry, you don't need a scan tool

Brake fluid leak 1999 mercury cougar

this is what i just found on the internet about this.

That is an indication the slave cylinder is leaking. You would have to remove the drum and replace the slave cylinder, perform bleeding of system to rectify.

Always perform repairs for both sides even though only one side is leaking now. It would fail sooner or later if not repaired now.

I had a brake hose replaced on my 2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid and now the brakes ABS message and the service brake light comes on. The brakes are very soft. The repair place was having a hard time getting...

Take it back to the repair shop and have them re-bleed the brake line...sometimes air in the line can cause a "spongy" brake peddle.
No matter what , its the responsibility of the repair shop to fix it.

I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner and I can't find the correct size torq bit to take off the front calipers. Help!!!

There are some Torx bits which are more difficult to find. It may be the T45. Some are available only in complete sets.

Harbor Freight has some cheap sets with Lifetime guarantees. A good autoparts store may have individual bits. Check out the separate Lysle and Leslie Tool racks which are usually behind the parts counters.

Sears sells individual tools. There is also the possibility that the Torx are Metric. Sears has Catalog tool magazines which have S-K Wayne, Falcom, and a few foreign makers. Lowes and Home Depot have guaranteed tools also.

Please comment on my info.

What is the brake bleeding order for a 2006 mercury mariner v6 premier?

Start at the caliper furthest from the master cyclender, should be right rear then move to left rear followed by right front and lastly left front! I have done many different cars over the years and this procedure allway works perfectly:)
