2009 mazda3 sedan boot wont close and boot light stays on

From the inside only,or both handles?
If inside only,chances are your child safety lock is on in that door.Open door from the outside and look at it by the latch-there is a small white circle with a flat spot.Insert something(key,screwdriver) and turn.This is a safety function so kids can't open the doors from the inside.From time to time they seem to engage themselves.

First, check all of the door switches to make sure they are working properly in the door closed position. A broken switch actuator will cause this problem. If that doesn't work or you don't have the resources to fix the problem right away, check your owner's manual for the location of the dome light fuse. Pull this fuse and save it until you can finish the repair.

• Check the fuse in the under the dash fuse panel.
• Also check the door pins on the door frame. When you open the door it pops out turning the lights on. When you close the door the lights and chimes turn off. Sometimes that pin either breaks or flat out sticks. Look at the pins on every door and clean them up and spray with a little bolt buster spray. You can take a small flat head screwdriver and pry up a bit on the head of the pin as well to make sure it comes up all the way. In extreme cases you may have to work with it for a while to loosen it up.
