The way to a fix is to view wiring diagrams an use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test the electrical circuit's . If you don't know how to test automotive electrical systems like this , not just replacing part's , your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .
Or learn how too do it correctly .

when I press the brake pedal my parking lights come on ????? To me this sounds like a ground issue , voltage back feeding through the circuit looking for a ground . view the turn signal wiring an test at the back of the vehicle ,turn signal wiring using voltage drop .

did u check that they not burn?if not you should Check the wires going into the steering column if you don't have separate turn signal lights and brake lights because if they use the same bulb then the turn signal may be bad. If I remember correctly that particular car doesn't work this way, but I include it just in case.

You should replace the handle with an aluminum version. The best one I have found is sold on eBay for 12 dollars.
Look for the one sold by mike8756.
It is easy to install, does not require removing any panels. Th first one I replaced took me about 1/2 hour. I hae done several since for friends and now takes about 15 minutes.
Installation instructions are here:

Good luck.

Have you checked the contacts to make sure they have good contact with the bulb base? I have a 1995 Ford Contour. The turn signal went out. I replaced the bulb and it would work when it wanted to. I checked the contacts and sure enough they weren't making good contact with the bulb. I took a screwdiver and slightly bent the contacts a little. It has worked good ever since.

P1133 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1
I would have the repair shop see if they either damaged or left disconnected the oxygen sensor for engine cylinder bank one upstream sensor, this sensor would have been disconnected if the oil pan was removed.
