Can't get out of park. Brake lights OK. 2002 ford excort se, automatic
In Alot of the newer Fords the brake pedal must be depressed to put the vehicle into gear, this is contolled by a sensor near the top portion of the brake lever, just because your brake lights are working, does not mean this switch, is properly functioning, also it is very possible there is a second switch located in the same area that controls this function. Also if this vehicle is a console shift, it is possible that the safety switch that is connected to shifter is disconnected or broken, this will stop your car from shifting into gear as well. Hope this helps!
