Landrover Freelander series 2, 2014. TD4. There is a double beep audible alert when you lock the vehicle using the smart key, BUT it doesn't do it every time. How do I switch it off?

From 53 reg onwards, diesel pump is under R.H. rear wheel arch, hidden by the plastic wheel arch liner. Older versions have combined fuel pump/sender in the tank (under R.H part of rear seat).
You should be able to hear a faint purr from the pump when ignition is turned on but engine not yet running.
