Oil pressure sending unit 2007 GMC Sierra located and what are the symptons when it's not working?

Oil pressure never went over 40, it had a sticky lifter, gauge went up to 65, next morning started truck and it goes to 80, no more sticky lifter noise. Gauge stays at 80 when running and goes to 0 when turned off.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge at 0

It is a possibility but I would check for sure. The oil gauge on that unit is electric not mechanical, you need to remove the sender or find a oil hole port on the side of the block and test the oil pressure to be sure it has oil pressure, if it is then it could be the sender or the wires going to the computer control. 2005 may be under warranty, however do not drive it till you know for sure. I don't remember if they still had the kill switch on that year or not, if the switch was reading zero the engine would not start so it could be something simple like a corded wire or as you said the sending unit. Hope this helps and if you need more help write back or do a chat or e-mail to get more help. You can look up the part at www.advanceauto.com and see what it looks like and get the price list for the thing and look to see if it has one two or three wires before you ever open the hood. if it's a three wire it has a kill switch if it's two it's not. if it's one it gets the signal from the computer and your problem may be the computer. However I don't know if it is still under warranty or not and weather you want to fix it or not. Let me know if you need more help. If you need the procedure for removal please respond to this post. Thanks for using fix-ya. I hope this helped.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge goes to 80 psi when the truck key is turned on

chances are your sending unit is not bad. These dashes have had alot of problems with stepper motors failing in the instrument cluster. does it go to zero when key is off? is it erratic? changes where it sits when running and when off? These are all problems within the cluster itself. It is not cheap to take this to the dealer. THey will want to replace the cluster. these clusters can be repaired for half the cost if you know where to go. Not sure yet what the rules are on here but i can repair these for about 325 verses over 600 from dealer and then reproggramming costs! One other note. Chevy has a recall on these! call you local dealer and ask what the criteria is for the recall. You may be able to get it repaired for free if you meet the time frame and mileage requirements.

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 5.3 liter vortec why does my truck leak oil only under pressure

because your oil pressure rises to around 40psi when running and will leak at the weakest place, check your oil sending unit first and seals.

2003 GMC Sierra Knock sensor and oil pressure??

the knock sensors are located below the intake plenum,or,upper intake manifold as some call it, they screw into the lower intake, the front one is sensor 1, the rear is sensor 2. it is wise to change both if you have some miles.since you are going to be buying a gasket set to do this job.the sensors are cheaper than the gaskets.

Where is the oil level sensor located? oil guage wiggles between 40 & 60 at idle and stays on 60 on the road.

That's not oil level you see on the gauge -- that is oil pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI). It is normal for the pressure to fluctuate when the engine RPM goes down. If it stays on 60 PSI on the road, you are very lucky -- that is excellent oil pressure!

Oil pressure sending unit

Hi there;

Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.

Thanks
Farrout!

Oil pressue gage just started acting up when moving it stays at 40 when you stop and are idling drops just above red zone

put a manual oil pressue gauge on the truck and make sure your not losing oil pressure, it would not be wise to assume the gauge is bad and turns out your wrong and need a new motor ;(. could be the sending unit but best to check for pressure before throwing any parts at it please rate -jeff
