Have a 2001 VW NEw Beetle 1.8t Abs and tc light been on a while now the EPC goes on and off. And my vaccum line to the air pump is loose so ordered a new one plus my number 3 plug wire or coil is loose. What could cause all 3 of these lights abs/tc/ and ecp once in awhile come on...

Hi Diaconnect the aftermarket radio if one is fitted. If the ABS light is on then disconnect the abs pump. These are the 2 most common reasons for this issue.

Sounds like all those sensors are going to need replaced. Basically, they are all in charge of metering the air and fuel to the engine, so if they are malfunctioning, the car isn't going to run correctly.

I wnet out of gas on my VW Beetle 2001 last saturday. When I added gas to the tank, the car wouldn't start and the EPC light went on and I haven't been able to get it to start ever since. Would the EPC light have anything to do with the gas pump or anything related to running out of gas?

check if the brake lights are working,sometimes this puts on the epc light[replace brake light switch if this is so].if not have the fault codes read with a diagnostic machine

HAVE DEALERSHIP SCAN IT THEY HAVE SPECIAL SCANNER FOR TROUBLE SHOOTING ABS BRAKES SYSTEM.AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.THIS NOT HOME FIX.

It could be a loose or defective gas cap.

The EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) is the "fly by wire" system that controls the throttle, it took the place of the cable that went from the gas pedal to the throttle body on VW. If this light is on and there is also a P0102, MAF (Mass Air Flow) related code stored in the vehicle's computer, the EPC may be caused indirectly from a faulty MAF. If the EPC is on and there is no other codes stored, it could be a faulty electronic throttle body or need to be re-programmed. The vehicle's computer must recognoze the throttle body so when replacing it with new or used it will need to be programmed at the dealer. Recently I replaced a MAF (a common problem on VW's) on a VW Golf and when I cleared the code the EPC went off as well.

Check the engine codes, and replace or repair the faulty sensor (most likely the MAF sensor).

where is the break light switch on a vw bettle

My EPC light magically appeared at 20K miles and the car squeaks like mad whenever it's moving. I don't notice any performance loss (engine-wise) in the car when the EPC light comes on but it won't let me switch gears from Park to R or D. I have an appointment next Friday to have it looked at. It's an automatic 2002 New BORA with JUST over 20K miles.
