SOURCE: Engine tappet clearances

According to http://freespace.virgin.net/tommy.sandham/databook.htm# Rocker Adjustment, the cold clearance is .008" intake/.018" exhaust in the non-GT 1500cc, and .012" intake/.022 exhaust on the GT. Sweet little car!!!

SOURCE: how to measure tappet clearance with dial gauge

When setting tappets, it has to be born inind that the valve stem wears an indentation into the face of the rocker. This prevents a really accurate tappet adjustment, so the customer is right again. If you do not posess a tappet setting dial gauge, a normal engineers dial gauge will do just as well. The procedure is the same as using your feeler gauge except that you set the dial gauge up on the cylinder head with the pointer resting on the head of the rocker. Press down fairly firmly on the rocker valve end and zero the gauge. Next lift up on the rocker and read off the clearance, from the gauge, Use a magnetic base to support your gauge and repeat the pocedure for each valve pair.

SOURCE: FORD cortina 3.0L V6 starting problems.recon tops

Have a look at the coil and its supply lead, standard it has a 9v coil and a resistor wire in the harness, this gives trouble ar resistor wire is odd and will not solder or weld and its expansion when hot loosens crimps! If you put 12 volts into a 9v coil it overwhelms (magneticly) the windings and gives a poor spark, also burns the points.

SOURCE: WIRING DIAGRAM FOR FORD CORTINA BAKKIE 1982 MODEL

I am sorry but we have no wiring diagrams here. I would try eBay for a used repair manual that has the wiring diagrams in it.

What is the tappert setting on a 1998 Hyunda H100 2.6 diesel bakkie?

The valve clearance specification for a 1998 Hyundai H100 2.6 diesel bakkie is:
Intake valve clearance: 0.25 - 0.35 mm (0.010 - 0.014 in) Exhaust valve clearance: 0.45 - 0.55 mm (0.018 - 0.022 in)
The tappet setting for this engine will depend on the specific valve clearance measurements for each valve. If the valve clearances are found to be outside of the specification, the tappet settings will need to be adjusted accordingly. It is recommended to refer to the manufacturer's service manual for detailed instructions on how to perform the adjustment procedure.

How do I set tappets on Nissan 1400

With a special tool called a feeler gauge remove the valve covers and one by one bring the cylinders up to top dead center (both valves are fully closed at this point) adjust to factory spec. All adjustments are done cold. If engine is very high miles reduce the clearances in specs by slight amount (.002") to the tight side to account for wear in the valve train parts.

What is the tappet clearance for a man 10.225 engine

long time since i worked on big diesels but assuming their manual tappets and not hydraulic then use the norm i would set all engines too ,unless its a 60s GT type engine ,long story to get the vacumn right with high lift cams but a cooking engine like this then i would use 12th inlet and 15 exhaust ,this will get you out the woods so to speak ,this setting works on a ford D series engine ,a gardner ,a eagle diesel rolls royce ,in fact any truck engine apart from things like a 3lt V6 capri gt or a 1.6 gt cortina where as they made the cams have such a high lift they wouldnt idle on lower settings than 18th inlet and 21exhaust ,so in effect defeating the object of a GT engine ,but i dont have the time to answer on how to set up a racing engine .

Tappet settings for nissan zd30(ddt)

12 th inlet and 14 exhaust will suffice as its not a racing car ,yes i know some of these older vehicles had different specs say a morris minor to ford 1.6 lotus cortina the difference was considerable but for a common cooking engine the gaps i have shown will suffice ,the main difference in the tappet settings on older vehicles was to allow for valve overlap but this was mainly on early sports vehicles as the camshafts couldnt always be machined to the right specs on a mass production scale ,But these settings i have given will do for around 90% of vehicles ,Make them too tight for speed by increasing valve overlap and the petrol economy goes through the roof make them too wide like a GT cortina at 22th exhaust and they sound like a bag of nails

Just after engine torque settings for a 2 litre cortina 1981 cylinder head and crank settings

wow a real engine built by proper craftsman in dagenham ,well the head bolts are around 70 lbs ,tappet settings 12 inlet and 15 exhaust unless its the Gt version then they were wider but clacked like hell so fit a standard cam ,2.0 engine is valve free so if belt snaps you do not damage the valves ,timing for unleaded fuel which these engines will run on is about 6? static .timing marks are easy to see ,These engine are stelite coated valves and seats so even 1972 engine one the first engines will run on unleaded fuel .engine oil use shell rotella diesel /petrol as this was used on all ford engines in the assembly plant .Another tip use the 98 octane fuel as they were designed to run on 4 star petrol which was 97 octane .points gap 25th and plug gaps 25 as well ,cannot seem to remember the firing order though ,old age comes to us all iam afraid but i think it was 1243 but it could have been 1342 ,i should know i fitted enough plug leads in my time .
