The liftgate will not open the trunk of our 2006 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. I've removed the panel following a You Tube video but the inside of our latch doesn't match the years of vehicles on the videos. they're mostly 1997-2003. We're also wondering if our liftgate is electric powered??? Thank you.
Ok i should clarify a few points before i get started here. and the first is that to the best of my knowledge they are still gas strut driven so you may want to look at getting them replaced. the other point i should make is that if this is a model with an automatic release button all it does when pressed is disengage the locking latch (which yes is electric) and thus is only meant to open the door a few inches at most. hope this helps. report back if you require further assistance.

SOURCE: diagram bypass heater cord on 2001 ford expedition eddie bauer
the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply

try removeing tailgate panel cover and check cables for free play if there is excess play the latch will not release first try to get behind latches and trip them off manualy the adjust yor cables dont close the gate when adjusting cables close latches by pressing them in there should be two clicks per lock then use handle to release them and keep adjusting till they function correctly it will be agrevating to adjust them but be pacatient and you will get it
SOURCE: Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?
They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.
