SOURCE: 2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.

SOURCE: Tail/brake light bulb replacement 2004 Olds Alero

In the trunk, in the rear corners, you'll see some plastic "caps" with tabs on them, similar to wing nuts. Remove those, and the taillight comes right off the back of the car. That will allow you to replace the bulbs.

SOURCE: anti-lock, traction control, service soon, brake,

Anti-Lock and Trac Off lights are lit on my 1999 Alero, as well. They usually come on after about 5 minutes of driving, but are not always on when I start the car.

SOURCE: brake light abs light traction control light all

you'll have to have it diagnosed at a repair shop to pinpoint the source. sorry, but thats how they make them. you could buy your own but it'll cost about 200$

I have a 2000 olds alero. I'm having a problem with the ABS, and Traction Control System. I've scanned the ABS system, and it shows RF wheel speed sensor ckt open/ shorted. I checked all fuses

The EBCM is looking for 1040-1160 ohms in the ABS sensor circuit. Check the two wires between the sensor and the EBCM. The wires in the area under the fender are prone to breakage caused by the flexing and turning of the suspension.

I don't understand the whole traction light thing. my car always says trac off-except when it says low trac and slides like it's on ice.

TAKE CAR TO A GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP HAVE THE ABS BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL CODE SCAN.YOUR ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WILL COME ON ADJUSTING BRAKE PRESSURE TO AVOID A SKID.THAT WHY LOW TRAC LIGHT COMES ON. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU SEE LOW TRAC LIGHT DRIVING ON DRY ROADS PROBLEM IS IN THE ABS BRAKE UNIT OR BAD WHEEL SPEED SENSOR.

I have a 2004 alero with 3 lights on, EFT light, Sevice engine soon, and Anti-brake lights. what does this mean?

I'm not sure what the EFT light is - guessing traction control. The components making up this system are the wheel speed sensors, and the EBCM, Electronic Brake Control Module.

Scan the ABS codes on the car and that will help. Here are some points of failure:
1) Sometimes just having improper tire inflation can cause this issue.
2) One or more of the wheel speed sensors are inttermittant/bad - easily tested.
3) The EBCM is bad - can have it rebuilt online for $150.00.

The ABS codes will help is diagnosing this issue.

Anti Lock, No Traction and Service Engine Light on

The wheel speed sensors are in the wheel bearings, so they should be okay. There is a a technical service bulletin for issues with the wiring harness that sends the signal from the sensors...if the harness is damaged it will act like a faulty sensor.

Took 800 mile trip

The ABS and traction control are ususally one in the same and will require a mechanic with special tools to diagnose. You can check to make sure the brake pads are not worn out (it is about time to replace them on this year car) that the wheel sensor wires are in one piece and amke sure the brake fluid is changed (This needs to be done every 24,000 miles on any car). As for the Check Engine light, you'll need a scanner to pull the code, but check the gas cap as this is the most usual culprit. We have a 2004 Grand Am (very similar to the Alero, but without the traction or ABS) and the only time the Engine light came on was when the cap was loose.
