I am Towing a 6x12 U-Haul trailer from Tallahassee Fl to Notre Dame University in South Bend Indianna. The Tow Haul feature/mode on the Yukon how important is it I use it?
It saves your transmission from costly repairs. The little bit of fuel you think you may save by not using it, will certainly not outweigh that big bill for new transmission. Saves transmission from shifting up & down too much.

The wires are probably broken. They follow the shifter down into the steering column. After many years of shifting the wires break. You can find the wires inside the rubber piece that surrounds the gear shifter. They're orange. You can splice them and put them back in.
this truck should be able to handle the task. does the truck have a tow haul/ switch on the drivers area. and you can look in your owners manual for more information
After time, the wires at the end of shifter break because they were cut short at factory and have little or no play. You will have to take column cover off where you can splice wire back together. It’s best to solder them together for best contact.
The autoride is likely coupled with the tow/haul function. When towing, you want firmer suspension, tighter cornering, less sway, along with the firmer transmission shift and different shift points. This helps keep you from tipping the vehicle when you have a high load because the suspension swayed too far. The vehicle is supposed to be a luxury vehicle, so this changing characteristic allows it to ride smoother and softer when you don't need the trucklike suspension.
Towing and hauling usually means it has some options to make it easier to tow or haul. In this cas it will have a hitch and the plug for teailer lights... It will have a few other extras as well maybe even heavier brakes but no electric brake control or wiring in the fron for it. Sorry...
