The whole black "frame" around the radio pulls out. they have some tuff clips that hold it on. I use a Pick with a 90deg end on it. The switch will be attached to the frame.I think the cig lighter will come with it also. Why are we going for the switch? Just wondering. Most of the time when 4x4 goes out its actuator or motor on the transfer case that goes out. Just checking.
The wood-ruff key is used to keep the crankshaft timing gear in place and on time with the crankshaft, and it does not matter if the engine has a timing belt or a chain because they both use a wood-ruff key to hold the crankshaft timing gear/cog in place on the crankshaft, and if the key is missing or it has been sheered off, then the timing gear will be able to turn on the crankshaft and the engine will loose the timing between the camshaft and the crankshaft. The wood-ruff key is located in a groove on the crankshaft, and the timing gear/cog has a notch cut into it so that it will slide onto the crankshaft and over the wood-ruff key locking the timing chain gear/cog into that position on the crankshaft.
Could be a wiring problem or plug problem, which should be checked first. If they have been changed, it could be a cam lobe bad...worse case, least likely.
A lack of gear oil in the transfer case or gear box will make shifting and gears become ruff then destroyed within a few hundered miles, sometimes much much less. Unless this truck has had a history of bad shifting technique I have found these trucks and gears to be extremely reliable. If the clutch makes a loud wirring noise when engaged and disengaged ther may be a bearing problem. Check the U joints in the driveline. Bad U joints would usualy result in a lot of gear box twisting and jerking when starting out but diminishes with speed.
Sounds like the fuel pump is starting to go, the problem after fill up is most always related to a failing pump. The other issue may be a dirty throttle valve.
