The ac is an idler pulley in the system so leaving it out will require a total change of how the belt is fitted and not just needing a shorter belt
remember that the ac pulley bearing can be replaced if faulty and if the ac compressor has failed disconnect the ac clutch wire and there is no need to worry about belts

SOURCE: !991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?

Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Dakota replacement serpentine belt too short (w/o air)

the parts store can give you a bigger belt just give them the part# of the belt thats to small which they have a book with the measurements of the belts, tell them you need a belt the same design but 3 inches bigger, its simple, they look in the book and get the belt i do that often at napa auto parts, some part stores have lazy workers, they dont take time to help people, try that, good luck.

SOURCE: can i put on a shorter serpentine belt to by pass

When you go to the Auto parts store and get the part. Tell them you don't have AC and install that belt by passing the AC pulley.

I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota the power steering pump froze what size belt would I need to bypass the power steering and will it to be the same diagram

NO VIN or Dodge engine told. ( we can't guess) gen 3 Dakota

3.7 L (226 cu in)
4.7 L (287 cu in)
3.7 or 4.7L
v6 or v8?

if gates belts , has no coverage for sans/ PS pump
then you must measures the new circumference and buy the new belt using that.
no the diagram is not the same. after all it is not a normally sold car like that.
if have done this many times deleting AC compressor.
never PS./
this path V6, as you can the sans PS is way shorter belt
I used an old belt (normal) then cut it it down to get the fit
measured but gee the tension'er must be in mid scale for it to fit right
v6 is only one belt (gates belt dot com)
K06 13/16" x 88 1/8" wide/circum.
as seen here (no SANS PS there) try 10 more makers ? no me.

v6
#3 i thinks is PS pump so belt new is shorter
and must not hit pulley 8. only you looking at that can answer it.
#1 is GEN and running gen down hits water pump8
no? or is way too close to 8, as belts flop a bit under load.

What size belt do I need to bypass the AC Unit on a 2005 Ford Taurus

2004 And 2005 There is no bypass pulley manufactured, even though all of them come with AC. but I am learning although mechanics dont want to admit it, if you remove the ac pump a shorter belt WILL work, in fact it will work (very temperorerly because there is a slight rub) without the removeal of ac pump. but a 15 milmeter wrench will get it home to remove the AC pump about 4 hours labor. Orielly's master pro K060815, Auto Zone 822K6, or preptstone 825K6 will work.

I want to bypass the air condition unit with serpentine belt need to know how that would effect the water pump.

The serpentine belt is meant to run everything at once. it is a tricky situation trying to bypass a pulley. If the pulley is located at the bottom of the serpentine relay, you should be able to buy a shorter belt and bypass the A/C, but make sure to incorporate the water pump or you're asking for a seized engine. It may or may not be possible. i did it on an 89 Escort, but it was simple and the A/C was located at the bottom of the serpentine cycle. The original belt was 23" and the new belt was 19". Just make sure to wrap the belt around the water pump as it probably runs your timing belt as well.

New routing diagram for the drive belt on my 2004 Cherokee. new belt is 13 inchs shorter (this is to eliminate the squeek problem), my local garage is reluctant to advise me!

Click on the following Link. It has the two (2) Serpentine Belt Diagrams.

I believe the Mechanic is bypassing your AC Compressor.
When you look at both of the Belt Routes you can bypass the AC with the shorter belt.
In the first Diagram: the Belt would go from the Power Steering Pump, bypassing the AC and going directly to (over the top) of the Water Pump.
In the second Diagram: the Belt would go from the Tensioner, bypassing the AC and going directly to (under the bottom) of the Water Pump.
