2003 hyundai elantra drives fine forward but when shift into reverse it won't move. What could be the problem

Why is it having trouble moving in reverse?

I'm going to say something happened to the cable between the shifter and the transmission. There is a switch on the transmission that prevents you from starting the engine in anything other than park or neutral. The transmission is probably in reverse or drive which would allow it to roll.
Someone would need to check the lever on the trans where the shift cable is attached.

Replace the fuse & drive to the auto elctrician he will find the fult & save you time & money.

maybe theres not enough trans fluid in the trans or the trans is stuffed

You can try shifting into manual 1 to get moving then once you get going shift the lever up into Drive. This should work, then drive it to a shop to have your ****** looked at.

is the level of fluid ok ? im afraid your transmission went bad not because of the starter change but it just happen at that time

If I understand you correctly, you have ALL forward gears working, but reverse doesn't?... then the problem is in the transmission itself or the linkage on the trans linkage into reverse.
