SOURCE: 1990 Nissan Maxima transmission top vacumn line

I believe the line you are talking about is a vent line not a vacuum line. It should go tp a metal tube that is in a "U" shape. This bolts to one of the bolts on the transmission.

the forward clutch pack is worn or the fluid pressure is low, either scenario requires a trans overhaul to correct.

Read your owner's manual. It's usually not safe to tow awd vehicles over 45mph or for long distances. Your best bet is a trailer, steering wheel lock and ratchet straps with the vehicle parked front wheels in front of the front wheels of the trailer. But then again, your owner's manual may say something different.

SOURCE: my 2005 nissan maxima jerks and races. Is that my

I have encountered this problem before. Your transmission is probably the aisin warner 5550. These 5 speed automatic transmissions were used in some maximas from 2004 - 2006. The short answer is you will at least need a new & updated valve body. Because the valve bodies tend to have that problem, other internal transmission damage may result. I rebuilt and updated a valve body for a customer and the max ran fine after that. Even now months later, my customer's transmission is still running great and it has never jerked again. I already wrote a long post with pictures on enginegeeks.com. If you want to see it go here : http://www.enginegeeks.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3

It's not the motor mounts and a transmission flush won't do the trick. These transmissions **** HARD!

Nissan Maxima transmission

Please follow the experts recommendation . In Automatic transmissions are not using thick oils. Only special and manufacturers recommended oils are used. If you will not change it you will come surely to an unexpected and not worthy situation. Proceed as you been told . Renew the oil and filter and I again inform you to use the specified oil from manufacturer and nothing else. Also it is better to put into your automatic gear box if you can find the " Wynn's Automatic Transmission Treatment. "It will help a lot.

Problems with my 2004 Nissan maxima transmission is **** from 1st to 2nd What your think can be the problem

Ok, I am about to solve the mistery on the transmission problems with these 2004 and 2005 Nissan Maxima.
I had 2 Maxima's 2004, let's call car A with a bad transmission and good motor, and car B with good transmission and bad motor.
1. I swap engines from car B to car A, after that, car A runned good with not a single issue.
2. Car B was with out and engine and a bad transmission,
3. I found a motor and transmission from a wrecked salvage 2005 Nissan Maxima with only 25,000 miles in it,
4. After the installation of the good engine and transmission on car B, I found a broken solenoid,
lets call the good engine and transmission (SET).
5. Remember car A is fixed, but car B had a bad transmission.
6. After removing the bad transmission from car B, the SET had a broken transmission solenoid called (pressure control valve solenoid) cause by the accident, the transmission valve cover had a small dent, right where the solenoid is, that how it got broke,
7. Since I still had the bad transmission from car B, the solenoid from that transmission were good in shape, so I thought I was lucky enough to swap the solenoid from car B to the SET,
after I did that I was good to go very confident that car B was going to run fine, but it did not.
8. Car B with a 25,000 miles SET end it up doing the exact same problem that it had before with the transmission, it is near impossible that the problem is the wear on the valve body since the SET only has 25,000 miles and I only swap the solenoid. 2 of them to be exact.
8. Now I am in the market to buy just the 2 brand new solenoids and cross my fingers, Nissan for some reason, they dont want to sell the solenoids by them self, you need to get the complete valve body assy. and shops are happy with that idea cause it is more money on the pocket for dealers and shops, so I hope is the solenoids, they are really easy to replace, just by removing the valve body cover and remove 2 bolts, 1 for each solenoid and that's it. I called one guy who owens a shop and I ask him if he sells the solenoids remanufactured and he started yelling cause he is thinking that we are stupids since he had many people asking about these solenoids and he is saying that the problem is the valve body it self, he make me mad because I only asked him for the solenoids not to try to make me buy the new valve body assy. I will follow up after I find the solenoids and replace these on my Maxima just to confirm, any questions e mail me back at [email protected] thanks

Need a new or rebuilt tranny for my 2005 maxima sl

Why do you need a new transmission? What was it doing. Becareful in working with a dealership. One of the most common problems is that of hard shifting or the engining reving inbetween gears then slamming into gear. This is a problem with the valve body that shifts the gears. If you get this fixed soon and are careful driving it to a good transmission shop, you will not need a full transmission. The valve body, fulid and gaskets must be replaced. This will run $1500-$1800 not $3500
This is a known defect withthe transmission that has not been recalled. Report this to NHTSA as a safety related issue.

Will a computer up update resolve possible transmission problems on the maxima.

You are not the first one to complain about transmission problems on Maxima 2005. I'd recommend you to take your car to a qualify technician before you get stranded.

check trans fluid, if ok....have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes at autozone. this may be an electrical issue.
