SOURCE: oil filter base plate

it does have an O ring buts its irregularly shaped. it is usually held on by 3 bolts(mine was). and the top most bolt was very close to my oil pressure sensor....(had to take it out to avoid breaking it) i needed a very short ratchet wrench and get it out. Make sure you get the ring from a Honda Dealership if you can.(i have bad luck with aftermarket parts on my Hondas). The reason why mine was spraying is because the baseplate was actually cracked. so i also had to buy a new one ( yes they have them too) O-ring 12.00 bucks baseplate was 39.00 bucks for me, might be a bit more for yours since your Honda is a little newer (mine was an 89 accord) oil filter baseplate or mountplate are some terms (so you were right on) hope this helps.

Where is the leak coming from on my 1995 honda accord lx

oil leaks around the filter generally mean that the oil filter is too tight and the gasket is damaged , filter installed on a dry gasket, -damaging the gasket, lip of the filter is faulty--manufacturing problem, the old gasket for the filter was not removed before fitting a new filter--- gasket squeezing out
remove the filter, best replace with a new filter, remove any old gasket stuck to the housing, put a thin film of oil on the new gasket and screw up to touch then 1/4 turn ( fitting instructions on the box or filter)
do not over tighten

Oil leaking above filter could it be oil sending unit

Could be the oil pressure switch. But ive also seen the oil filter housing leaking on thesed 2.2L accord engines. If its coming from even higher then all of that then its the valve cover gasket leaking. i Suggest cleaning off the engine first with brake cleaner to really see exactly where it is coming from

1993 Honda accord. The oil is gushing out where the oil filter housing meets the engine block.

sachemjoeqo, There is a rubber gasket between the housing and the block which hardens and cracks over time that needs to be replaced. The only problem here is that it is not the easiest thing to get at. If you are doing this yourself, put the front wheels up on ramps and be sure to block the rear wheels. Remove the oil filter and then the housing, be sure to clean the block and the housing before reassembly. Good luck with this.

Just bought a used 1996 Honda Accord 4dr 6cyl and it has a major oil problem. when not even on it would leak oil. the car ran out of 5 qts of oil in a 50 mile drive. noticed the oil filter was 1/2 inch...

Yes there is. if it leaks, find out where. You may have engine damage from running the car out of oil. You say it leaks from the oil pump, same as before? was the oil pump replaced? Sounds like a pressure fed leak, so it should be easy to find.

1996 Honda Accord 2.7L/V6 oil leak near oil filter/oil switch

my car was doing the exact same thing and i spent about 18 hrs total trying to figure out. if you remove the oil filter, you will notice that the "bracket" that the oil filter attaches to is removable. remove the ENTIRE oil filter assembly. there is a bolt almost behind the crank pulley, its tricky to get to but you can get to it with a 1/4 in drive, swivel, and extension, i do believe it was a 10-12 mm socket (MUST BE ^POINT SHORT WELL) the top left bolt on the assembly you will notice that you can not get out. that is fine, take the rest of the bolts out and let the assembly hang from that bolt, BUT the bolt must me loosend all of the way to achive play in it. take a small screw driver and "break" the seal on the assembly. you will notice 2 holes. around those two holes is a single gasket. even the smallest crack will aloow oil to drip. my car was using about a gallon of oil every ten miles, so you can imagine how much oil i when through, replace the gasket. You can not get the rubber gasket ANYWHERE except a honda dealer. replace. put it together and you all set.

BASIC STEPS: RAISE PASSENGER SIDE.
REMOVE TIRE
REMOVE OIL FILTER
REMOVER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE GASKET
AND REPEAT BACKWARDS FOR INSTALLATION

Oil leaks from the oil filter adapter

If it is not the suggested gasket that is leaking then it is the oil pressure switch located exactly above the oil filter adapter. The black plastic housing could have developed a crack and oil will ooze downward and drip off the bottom of the adapter. I had this problem and changing the oil pressure switch took care of it.
