Has manual trans mission
You more than likely have a bad VSS (vehicle speed sensor)
if you google it you'll find prices. Not a big job to replace.
My personal suggestion would be to go for these repair catalogs. I know this website www.reliable-store that i used to get manuals from, and they have all models online.
I also brought for my 1989 BMW, such old model, they had it and it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.

If you do not see a dip stick then you will have to look under the car, it will be a 17mm inset nut, have the car running in N when putting the fluid in

It isn't usually necessary on a manual transmission to change the fluid, however, if you do, you might notice a bit smoother shifting. It will probably have little if any impact on the life expectancy of the transmission. It won't hurt to do it, so if it makes you feel better go for it. It is important, however to make sure it stays full.

Cant know until you have a code to look at. Take it down to your local autozone pepboys or O'reilly's auto parts stores, they will read the codes for you free of charge

check for a faulty vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission. It sends speed information to the speedometer and cruise control computer.
