Re: My next base 112 has stopped starting recording when...
My personal suggestion would be to go for these
repair catalogs. I know this website www.reliable-store.com that i used to buy them from, and they sold online it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.

are you sure that you changed the ASD relay? that code is for no signal from the ASD to the PCM. Check that you have constant 12v at the relay base and that you have switched voltage when the key is on at the relay base, then make sure you have continuity to ground at the relay base. If the relay clicks when the key is turned on then the internal coil is making and should be sending a signal to the PCM when the key is turned on.
Have you cleaned the MAF sensor? I'd do that next. Ford should be able to find that problem though with a diagnostic.
Some dealers have good service and repair.....others not too good. don-ohio
1. Check n clean battery cables with a battery brush. Look at both ends, if able.
2. Check battery acid level. Add if needed, get a jump.
3. All OK? Then get a battery load-test done free at a parts store.
Yes sir. The ignition switch/relay is not releasing the "start" connection when key is released after starting thereby solenoid remains on with stater running. If threr is a relay check and replace if necessary. If it's got no relay replace ignition switch.
First guess is VACUUM leak....second guess is Ignition module fastened to the bottom of the distributor, about 3-4 inches long. This thing can cause crazy things as it is going out.
Make sure to use the conductive grease on the backing plate when you swap it out. This keeps it from overheating at the distributor base. don-ohio
I'd suspect the ignition module (external, next to the distributor) or the PIP module (inside the distributor) or maybe even both-get Motorcraft parts the aftermarket stuff is mostly hit or miss.
Hey jonce17....I had the same problem, and my Alero sat in my driveway for 2 days. I looked online for the solution, and I found out how to bypass the security. After it won't start and the security light is blinking, turn the ignition to the on position. Leave it there till the security light stops blinking and stays on (usually takes 9 to 10 minutes). Then turn ignition to off position and start it like normal. This happens to me about once every couple of months. Hope this helps....
This problem is usually caused by a failing neutral safety switch. Try moving the shifter when it is dead. Will it start in neutral? Move the shifter while trying to start (foot on brake!)
