so by the timing chain issue , you have a 2.7l v6, was it rough idle before the chain replacement, if no than your chains are out of time by 1 or 2 teeth, on cam gears, this is a delicate motor on timing, of course a compression test would a have been first to do before any teardown. GOOD LUCK RDJRP

SOURCE: 2006 subaru B9 Tribeca Error 66

Hello, I know exactly what your talking about! and why no one else did... The error code is being displayed on your trip/odo LCD screen at the bottom of your right gauge pod if I remember correctly. Only, it\'s not Er 66... it\'s (Er bb) which is a malfunction with your vacuum pump system. I truly hope this is the same concern you are asking about, if so I am happy I could help. If it is a different problem please let me know so I can look into this matter further. I\'ve added an "error chart guide" so you will have proof this time when/if you decide to return to the dealer... Good luck!! and I hope this info helps...(subytech1)...143162913

SOURCE: the timing marks match on the crank and the cams,

Check the Crank position sensor. If that sensor is sending bad signal it will cause the coil pack to fire at the wrong time and that will give you the misfire detected problem. Also, check the injectors, if one isn't firing like it should your getting no fuel in the cylinder.

06 B9 tribeca.Flashing engine light,traction control and cruise lights stays on,Misfire in #1 and #6 cylinders.Changed plugs, fuel injectors, and ignition packs,also replaced the O2 sensor....HELP!!

I would be concerned that this issue is serious. Given all the parts that have been replaced already.

First get a leak down test performed to narrow down a possible cause. Both sides of the engine will require this test.

this will help determine a course of action
.
Here is a list of possible causes:
1. a plugged or restricted catalytic converter(s)
2. carbon buildup on the valves causing them to not fully close
3. issues with the active valve control system
4. less likely but possible the timing chain might have skipped

2006 cts 2.8 making loud ticking noise ,running rough and has misfire codes po300,301,303,305

codes p 300 is a random/ multiple misfire===causes spark plugs---HT leads ---injectors/s--ignition coil/s--low compression---wiring
codes p 301,303,305 are misfires detected for no 1,3 5 cylinders === causes listed are engine mechanical fault---wiring---ignition/fuel systems ---injectors---ECT/MAF sensors---ECM
You do not mention if this is a v6 engine in which case no 1,3 5 will be all in the one bank head
With the loud ticking noise that amounts to a mechanical fault associated with that bank
could be loose valve seat inserts , cam lobes failure or cam follower failure or hydraulic lifters problem even loose cam shaft bearings / caps
I would be inclined to remove the rocker cover and check for metal , loose bolts , excessive valve clearance before I went plugs etc
the main indicator for the answer is the loud ticking noise which indicates a valve train problem which will cause the rough running

When should a timing belt be replaced on a 2006 tribeca

65,000 mile intervals for almost all timing belts. Timing chains are determined when the timing is off more than 6 degrees from optimum.

Subaru Tribeca B9 Misfiring

Misfire can create a lot of heat. Especially in the catalytic converter. usually a crank sensor results in no start but it affects the ignition timing. What are the exact codes?

Code P0016 cam shaft

Hi Reggie, That means you have a problem with the cam shaft pickup sensor and will result in problems starting and / or misfiring. Remove and clean the sensor or replace it and then clear the fault code. The evhicle should then perform as it should. Regards John

Yes, 86K is unexpectedly soon for a valve job. 200K is more likely. You've replaced the usual suspects, so its time to look further. Valve (or head gasket) problems can be identified with a dry and wet compression test AND a leakdown test. You really don't want to pay for a valve job (i.e both heads, gaskets and timing belt while you're there...) if its not needed. Other things to look for are vacuum leaks and exhaust leaks (odd effects can with these). Watch the coolant level: if its going down, its either leaking or burning == head gasket on the way out. Burnign coolant also creates while smoke. If the gas economy is way off, the catalytic converter could be damaged (unburned gas in the exhaust wrecks the cat).

I AM FROM A REPAIR SHOP IN MD. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A 2006 CADILLAC SRX WITH A 3.6 ENGINE. THE INITIAL ISSUE WAS THAT THE CHAIN BROKE ON ONE SIDE. THAT CHAIN WAS REPLACED AND VEHICLE WAS...

the timing is off, take a good look at the reluctor wheel, make sure its not slipping. other thing is the tensioner, if the marks were all lined up when put together and they are no longer lined up after driving, then the tensioner will have to be replaced.
if you do not have the special tools to set the timing up, send it to the dealer and let them set it up for you, but your timing is off.
