SOURCE: need timing marks for Daewoo engine in Chevy Aveo

The crankshaft gear has a triangle timing mark on it. On the outside of the gear near the teeth. This points straight down, and lines up with a notch, on the bottom of the rear timing cover.

The camshafts have a mark on the outside of the gear, near the teeth. The camshafts are turned, so that the marks are to the inside, (in-between the gears), and the marks point to each other.

There is a huge service procedure for this job. It won't fit on this website given the allowable display area. If you'd like, you can either post an email address or drop me a note at: daves944 at yahoo dot ca, and I will send you a pdf of the whole thing when I get a chance later today.

SOURCE: timing belt broken.dual overhead cam.don't know

There are no timing marks. Special tools are required to lock the cams and crankshaft in place while the belt is reinstalled.

Is there a ford focus timing marks single overhead cam diagram

depending on trans and engine mount type the mark my be on flywheel but generally most cars it is located on the belt pulley attached to crank rod, center bottom one on engine block. the timeing mark should be visable from top looking down. if you use a big ratchet to turn over the engine by hand and go slowly, you should see thhe marks pass as you do so.

Runs rough, shakes, low rpm's

There is a pressure test port for the fuel on the fuel rail. A fuel pressure gauge will be needed.

You did not include the Year of your vehicle. Some Years of production 2004-2008, I believe had engines with double overhead cams and an emblem showing DOHC on the top cover of the engine.

Parts called "Cam Phasers" were defective over time. Timing is controlled by these phasers and you can imagine how poorly an engine can run if each bank has a different timing mark from the other. You can read some Articles about this on the Web.

When you check your fuel pressure, there are a few possibilities. No fuel -check the Inertia switch. The crankshaft sensor can also affect fuel volume.

I have found the crankshaft marks but I cannot find marks to align the to over head cams on my car, the dohc are run from 1 wheel. I am trying to re-align the timing belt as i think they have gone off.

if it's a dual overhead cam then each head has two cams and two pully's, a single overhead cam engine has one cam and one pulley on each head. if the belt has more than 60,000 miles on it you should replace it. you need to find out if the engine is an interference engine or not to determine the level of damage caused if the belt has jumped or slipped. your overhead cam timing marks are usually on the cam faces and the backing plate behind the cam or sometimes there's two marks on the cam that you align with the surface of the head behind them. the first thing you need is a diagram of the belt routing and mark positions because timing marks are very important especially on an interference engine. starting or cranking an interference engine with the timing marks misaligned can bend all your valves or even punch holes in your pistons! so proper alignment is crucial, good luck.

How to set timing when you relesh tensioner and it changes the alignment postion of pullies 2000 ford ranger 2.5 l

Here is the trick. Align marks. Put the timing belt on the crank shaft pulley first, and after on the overhead cam pulley. Release tensioner and rotate the crank shaft till the timing belt makes two full circles. Try to align marks, you will be at least one tooth off. Align the crank shaft on the mark, and find out how many teeth you are off at the cam shaft pulley. Count the teeth. Remove the timing belt from cam shaft pulley only. Move cam shaft pulley in reverse according to the number of teeth you counted. Make sure the crank shaft pulley is on the mark. Mount the belt at cam shaft pulley.Rotate the belt two circles and check the marks. Repeate this procedure til after releasing the tensioner, and rotating the timing belt two full circles, the mars will be align.

Put a new timing belt on my 2003 Mazda Protege and I lined up the timing marks on the overhead cams and the crankshaft timing marks. When I started it the engine made a horrible tinging sound so I shutdown...

When you align the timing marks up take a wrench and rotate the crankshaft pully twice so the timing mark is lined up in the notch and then check your camshafts and see if you are still aligned. This may take a few times to get it right. Good luck!

Need to know where the timing marks are on a 1995 Monte Carlo

3.4l double overhead cam ? i'm told the 95 is the only 1 with non-interference valves when the timimg belts go out . once you have the crank on #1 top dead center and your positive, there should be a notch in the top of the flywheel . and the cams on the firewall side will have flat spots facing down while the front side will have both cam flatspots facing up .anyways that's a rough idea what you need to get it to do.

I have a 1996 Honda Accord and I have replaced the timing belt...I need to know if anyone can help me with the camshaft and crankshaft markings.

There should be markings on the gears or pulleys for both parts. It would be a diamond or dot. The top part should be your cam and the mark would go on the bottom directly over the mark on the crank. The crank mark should be at high noon. They should not offset, they should be directly inline. Single overhead cam only.
