Go to the parts store you purchased the shoes from and ask for a printout.

The rear brake shoes are very similar on most vehicles so any isuzu workshop manual will have diagrams and photos on the rear drum brakes
Tell your friend to leave the vehicle alone if he doesn't know what to do as it is your life he is messing with

SOURCE: I need a diagram to put rear shoes back on.

Go to www.autozone.com register yourself and your vehicle then look around the site until you locate repair guide section, follow the instructions. I'd advise printing every page of instruction and read it first.
One piece of advice - if it's your first time for anything on the vehicle and there's another identicle assembly, take only one (1) apart so you have a sample (hopefully correctly assembled) to refer to.
Good luck
P.S. Let us know how you make out.

Can not get rear drum off to replace brake shoes

look on the back side of the brake backing plate. there should be a little rubber plug, remove it, and use a screwdriver to back the adjuster off, and relieve the pressure on the brake shoes, and the drum will come right off.

Parking brake cable stretched beyond adjustment how do you replace

Rear Brake Shoes- You'll need to know how to remove the rear brake shoes to remove the parking brake cable. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Amigo and Rodeo
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear wheels.
  3. Remove the brake drums.
  4. Remove the brake return springs.
  5. Remove the leading shoe holding pin and spring, and then the leading shoe.
  6. Remove the self-adjuster and the adjuster lever.
  7. Remove the trailing shoe holding pin and spring.
  8. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the trailing shoe and remove the trailing shoe. Remove the parking brake lever from the trailing shoe. To install:
  9. Attach the parking brake lever to the trailing shoe.
  10. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
  11. Apply a thin coat of high temperature grease to the shoe contact points on the brake backing plate (locations A and C in the accompanying illustration), piston contact surface (B), and self-adjuster (D). Fig. 1: Exploded view of the rear drum brakes — Amigo and Rodeo 93026g56.gif

  12. Position the trailing shoe on the backing plate and install the hold-down pin, spring, and retainer. Don't stretch the return spring when fitting the shoes onto the backing plate.
  13. Connect the upper return spring and the leading shoe to the trailing shoe and position the leading brake shoe on the backing plate.
  14. Install the adjuster assembly and the hold-down pin, spring, and retainer.
  15. Use a brake spring tool to install the lower return spring.
  16. Install the self-adjuster lever and adjuster spring.
  17. Adjust the shoe-to-drum clearance to 0.0098–0.0157 in. (0.25–0.40mm) and install the brake drum.
  18. Check the brake drum for scoring or other wear. Machine or replace as necessary. Check the maximum brake drum diameter specification when machining.
  19. Install the rear wheels. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Road-test the vehicle.

Rear brake drum removal

Remove the caliper and make sure the E-brake is off, the drum should fall off. If not, a couple whacks with a lead hammer will knock it loose. The rotor and drum are one. The brake shoes on the E-brake are never worn, they don't see much use when moving. they just lock the wheels. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how to remove the rear brake lens asembly. I removed the two phillips screws and pulled back.

Are you doing the top lights? or the side/ rear lights? Either way, they should come right out, pull or twist out the bulb, put in the same wattage, (or you will have a light show.)

I do not know how to remove the rear brake drums on my 1999 isuzu rodeo. Is there a set screw that holds these in place? What is the best way to remove the drum?

the first thing you need to do is back off the brake shoes which is done through a slot on the backing plate (you will need a brake adjustment tool) then some imports have 2 or 3 screws holding the drums on to the axle flange yours may not. you should be able to pull the drums off but they may need some persuasion with penetrating oil around the axle flange and a hammer tapping the drum free be careful not to hit to hard as these are made out of cast iron and break easily

Rear ABS Light/Rear brakes drag sometimes

The only moving parts on brake's are caliper's and master cylinder. The rest are just pipe's. Dosent sound like the master cylinder as the two back brakes should lock not one. It still sounds like caliper's. Can you be sure they have changed them If it were mine I would get someone independent to check they have done the work they say they done.
