SOURCE: when i put my 2002 audi a6 in reverse it does not

What I recommend is that you find your own personal "AUDI" mechanic and not a universal car mechanic. What they would do is only work and specialize in audi vehicles and detirmine you problem.
Hope this helps

Check battery to motor and battery to body ground for corossion under bolts. Also check motor to body ground strap for condition and corossion. A bad ground can cause all kinds of problems.

Could be a fuse, but to be sure take it into a shop and have them run a diagnostic on it. If they ask you to pay, call another shop. Or you can take it over to Auto Zone and they'll run one for you for free. If they can't tell you anything you'll have to bring it to a shop where they have more sophisticated diagnostic tools.

Check radiator for coolant - have a pressure test done on the cooling system. Check the radiator for blockages.

What is causing the "geiger counter" sound near the speakers near the left and right ends of the dashboard?

I would suspect that the unit is picking up ignition sparks possible from a lead flashing over. The voltage variations will be picked up by the antenna and comes through as a stop sound. Have it checked out at a radio shop

ASR - Acceleration Skid Control system.
When ASR warning light blinking the system is activated itself for car acceleration skid control.

For today's typical high-torque engines, traction control (ASR) can increase both comfort and safety, particularly when driving on slippery roads or surfaces offering differing levels of grip. Traction control permits smooth starting and acceleration through the full speed range without wheel-spin or fishtailing.

tdisline_338.jpg

ASR only operates in conjunction with the electronic accelerator (E-gas) and uses components of the anti-lock braking system (ABS). If one wheel suddenly begins to rotate faster than the others (slip), ASR intervenes in the engine management system and reduces power until the wheel stops spinning.
The ASR system represents a further contribution to active safety as it maintains vehicle traction and directional stability throughout the acceleration phase at any speed. In addition, it reduces tyre wear. Activation of the ASR system is indicated by a flashing indicator lamp in the instrument cluster.
The ESP system means the Electronic Stability Program. If the ESP lights on the dashboard permanently the ESP system is faulty. You must access the ESP Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ESP ECU, in other words reset the ESP system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

I have a Audi A4 SE 2000 Reg. FE52UFB, with a I believe a Multi-tronic automatic 6 speed gearbox. I have flashing PRND lights. The car runs well, although very occasionally it has dropped out of gear,...

You really should not drive your car in that condition.Resetting codes will not help and it's a waste of money. All indicates problem with torque converter. Service immediately!!!!

you have a transmission problem. the tcm has switched to limp mode witch means the trans will start and stay in 2nd or 3rd gear only. this requires a scan tool to properly diagnose the problem. you should get it checked out sooner than later before any further damage is caused by driving it in its limp mode. good luck.

Sometimes can't get reverse gear Audi A6 2004 Auto 1.9TDi UK

Unless your shade tree mechanic is an Audi expert, go to the dealer who has all the books and diagrams that tell the tech exactly where to look. The other guy may want to replace something just to troubleshoot and the factory tech should know exactly what to replace or which plug is loose.
