How to remove 03 expedition side clips - 2003 Ford Expedition

On the expedition you go under the hood passenger side.The black venting that sits right next the hood will have some clips holding it together. Remove the clips and the cover and you will see the cabin air filter at the back of the opening.

1998 Ford Truck Expedition 4WD 5.4L EFI 8cyl

PCM Ford's Location:
* Ranger - behind instrument panel (cowl), center to both driver and passenger sides.
* Explorer/Mountaineer - behind instrument panel (cowl), (access from engine compartment dash panel) on passenger side to center of vehicle.
* All other F-Series, Expedition/Navigator - lower dash panel on passenger side.
* Excursion - lower dash panel on driver side.

The PCM is behind the glove box and has a big harness connector in the firewall that you access from the engine compartment.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Fig. 1 The calibration number will be needed to order such parts as a replacement PCM, various sensors, and almost any emission control component. Typically this number is attached to a label found on the driver's door or the door pillar

1. Remove the battery and the battery tray.
2. Loosen the connector retaining bolt and remove the PCM connector.
3. Remove the passenger side front door scuff plate.
4. Remove the passenger side kick panel.
5. Remove the PCM bracket clip.
6. Remove the PCM.
   

To install:

1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
2. Tighten the PCM connector retaining bolt to 36-44 inch lbs. (4-5 Nm).

It's usually the window winder that presents the problem . Remove all visable retaining screws ie; Grab handle , Internal door opening lever , Button on top of panel (if applicable ) etc . The majority panel are a pop snap on type . Remove the winder lever withthe aid of a shoe lace or thin piece of cloth material, The winder is retained by a horse-shoe shaped spring clip. .... Pull the shoe-lace/ material in the opposite direction of the winder retainer clip and it will easily come off, but it is a spring clip and may fly off so be careful. Good luck

Remove the screw covers from the arm rest and remove the screws. Use a one inch stiff putty knife and slide between the door and the door panel. Move it right or left until you hit the retaining clip. Gently pry the door panel upward until the clip releases. Repeat this all the way around the bottom & both sides. When all are released push the door panel upward releasing in from the edge of the window opening.

Taking a big chance it is the same as the F-150. Don't force it, the switch might be held in differently. Some items are interchangeable between the F-150 and the Expy lines.

The F-150 switch is held in with 3 spring clips.
The 1st clip is on the top, towards the right hand side


The 2nd clip is on the left hand side of the switch, in the center


The 3rd spring clip is on the bottom in the center ( don't have a good picture of this, same clip type ).

USe a plastic interior trim tool, or worst case a plastic putty knife that is cut down to ~ 3/4" wide. I would suggest not using a screw driver, as this can damage the edge of the switch.

then you should be able to pull out the axle with little effort ...Hope this helps you out

Remove the negative cable from your car battery before replacing car air bags

Deactivate the air bag by removing the air bag fuses. Look in your car owners manual to locate the fuses

Unscrew steering column paneling and remove the airbag bolts on the back side of the steering wheel. Pull out the airbag until you see the back side and unplug the wires

Per the '03 Owners manual...

Approach lamp bulb removal (if equipped)
To change the bulbs:
1. Make sure that all the doors are
closed and the interior lights have
automatically turned off or the
opposite mirror approach lamp has
turned off.
2. With a small flat tipped
screwdriver, insert the tip into the
approach light module slot located
on the outboard corner of the lens
to release the clip.
3. While holding the clip in the release position, pull the approach light
module down.
4. Remove the two wires from the module and replace the module with a
new one.
5. Reverse the order to reassemble the approach light module.

Your going to have to remove the inside door panel to get to the three bolts that hold the out side mirror assembly. Once you have the door panel off you'll see the three bolts that hold the mirror assembly, just un-bolt and un-clip the wire harness to the electric/heated mirror. To install the new mirror assembly, just do everything in reveres. Go to Auto Zone and by extra door panel clips, there is a good chance of breaking some of the retainer clips and Auto Zone will have the step by step instructions to replacing the mirror assembly and the removal to the door panel.
