SOURCE: what does error code 55 mean for Subaru leagcy 2005

This is a communication error with the BIU (body integrated unit). Need to take to the dealer, possible that the ECU needs to be replaced to fix this issue. It should be covered under the federal emmission wrty.

SOURCE: headlight low beam

Test to see if you have voltage at the bulb connector in low beam position. I'd almost bet that if there is no voltage there for the low beams that you have a bad high/low switch.

Hiya,

Here you go:

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner housing.
  3. Vehicles with 5-spd transmission: Remove the clutch slave cylinder and set aside.
  4. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness retainer from the coolant hose.

I don't think the dohc engine in your 97 will work. And I'm not saying that because I have a sohc engine for sale. It came out of my 2000 Impreza RS. Unfortunately my daughter totalled the car (she's OK) and I retained the vehicle from the insurance company. the car (and engine) had 120,044 miles at the time of death. the timing belt was done at 105,000. 1992 Subaru legacy wagon will not shift up from first gear. it is an AT.

run the fault but all you describe is operated from the VSS sensor ( vehicle speed sensor)
it tells the cruise control the vehicle speed , tells the TCM the vehicle speed so that ratios can be changed, activates the speedo, and will report with a check engine light to report a transmission problem
run the fault codes first

How do I remove and replace the speedometer on a 1991 suburu legacy wagon I have a code for VSS2 which is the speedo speed sensor

The speed sensor is located on the transmission output . I don't think the problem is in the dash. Go to YouTube and type in where is the speed sensor on a 1991 subaru legacy and it will bring up all related videos. Hope you find this useful.

1998 subaru legacy 2.2 engine problems

Yes.
The speed sensor in the transmission gives the computer data to control fuel mixture and timing, and it also drives the speedo and odometer.
The sensor would need to be tested.
