2001 Town and Country Cruise Control won't engage

As with the other person's problem, you can turn on the Cruise Control but it will not engage when you press "Set".

I replaced the On/Off and Set switch on the dashboard after a guy in the Chrysler Dealer told me "It is probably just the switch". Still no good.

I read about brake switches and vacuum hoses - is this a common problem with Town and Country? Can anyone suggest anything else I might try?

Thanks

Thanks, you are a legend! The rubber boot that connects the manifold to the Cruise Control disintegrated in my fingers. Looks like it had something corrosive spilled on it or something to make it fall apart like that.

I did a temp fix on it and it the cruise control now works. I'll go by the part today.

Check your vacuum lines. Most of the time it is the vacuum lines, or the cruise actuator. I have seen a couple of brake switches not allow the cruise to set also. If it feels like it sets, then loses speed, it is a vacuum/actuator problem. If it is not setting at all, it could be either the brake switch, or the actuator.

The auto gas pedal stopped working and had it fixed and since then the cruise control will not engage. 2001 Lincoln town car. appreciate any help.

sounds like a switch not working right in the cruise control take it back to the guy who "fixed it" and get him to "fix it" right this time,, its likley to be the brake switch sticking on, this wont let the auto cruise control engage, it keeps thinking you are trying to brake to slow down so it kicks its self out just as it should if you were driving in auto cruise you then need to reset it to go back into auto cruise

After a battery replacement the cruise does not

Check the splice and make sure there is no exposed wire and that it isn't touching anything causing a short/ground. Also check your owners manual for a fuse layout (should be in there) and find the fuse(s) that control your CC and check them. Also make sure you didn't damage the throttle cable coming from the CC module (should be the shorter of the two cables coming off the throttle body). Hope this helps.

My brother just bought a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature.....I helped him find this car and he now tells me that the cruise control does not work.....My guess is that he is trying to set the speed and not...

Turn on the Cruise control ON on left side of steering wheel accelerate to desired speed push set button on right side of steering wheel to turn cruise OFF press off or tap brake pedal
