This could be a problem with the encoder module - you will need to take it to a dealer and have it checked/fixed.

SOURCE: 2002 envoy 4wd problem. clicking sound comes and

Clicking sound- Possible electronic fan clutch failing. This is a typical problem with the 4.2L I6. When you hear the clicking, open the hood and listen if its coming from the fan clutch on front of the engine. this could also cause abnormal engine and transmission cooling. As for the "N" light and 4wd issue, have scanned at the dealer....Hopefully this helps

I have a 2003 Envoy 4wd switch light not on 4wd not working. is it just a fuse to replace? wah tcould I do before I take it and have anything replace that would cost me less to do it myself, if it is easy.

First check the following fuses; in the underhood fuse panel, fuse #8 and #22. In the rear fuse panel fuse #48.
If fuses are OK, with key set to RUN position (don't need to start), set 4WD switch from 2WD to AFWD and listen for two motor sounds from under the truck. If you don't hear this, the problem is with the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) or the TC mode actuator.

My 4wd switch worked fine. Right now it is stuck on 4lo ans when I try to switch it to 2hi it just blinks and stays on 4lo with a solid ligbht

I'm not a mechanic, but I recommend getting this in for fixing ASAP... Mine started doing the same thing, except going from 2wd to A4wd... now it is all over the place, I've spent $2000, and I'm still at square one... You don't want to wind up wrecking your transfer case (or the motor on it), as that gets costly!! :) Good luck

My 2002 Envoy will not shift into 4 wheel drive or anything other than 2WD. The lights are not lighting up on the switch and the fuses have been checked and good. Any ideas?

check the transfer case selector motor, they go bad and thats what happens, no 4wd and no other lights on switch because its not doing any changing of the tranfer case, to test remove motor ground it and with connector connected, try to switch to 4wd see if motor moves, you can use a test light to make sure its getting power, hope this helps.

My 2002 Gmc Envoy is stuck in 4wheel low. I

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, that might get you out of trouble for now. There are some common problems with these 4wd systems. Most common is the mode position sensor on the encoder motor. Sometimes it can be the switch on the dash. Fact of the matter is I can't tell you what is wrong without using a scantool to retrieve the fault codes from the computer controlling the 4wd.

Switching back 4WD to 2WD - 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4L Limited Petrol

With any 4WD like this, always move a few feet in the opposite direction when disengaging. If you were moving fwd in 4wd, switch to 2wd, back up a few feet, then go fwd.
