I need to locate the knock sensor on a 2000 Holden rodeo . It has an Isuzu V6 petrol engine and I believe it is a 3.5 as the 3.2 has the knock sensor under the air intake and this motor does not .

It's on the inside of the cylinder head at the rear of the engine. Will be hard to see it because the intake plenum hides it. where to locate the camshaft ...

  Mar 30, 2013 - If you are just testing the sensor, you can check the cam sensor signal at the ECM on pin 11 of connector number 2. It is the same blue wire.

All information that I can find indicates that it is bolted to the cylinder block underneath the intake manifold. Looks like the entire intake has to be removed to change it.

Hi, is this a new noise ? If it is check the oil level as shown on the dip stick of the engine..... if you can hear knocking the engine will be pretty well buggered. How many km\'s has the vehicle done.... really, not what you can see on the speedo. One other thing is if the wrong fuel has been put in the tank, i.e diesel, or high octane petrol that the knock sensors cannot adjust to suit i.e av gas is a very high octane rating fuel that should not be used in engines designed for low octane.

if its diesel 4JX1 its in top cam belt cover cant miss it, sensor is very clearly visible.
if its petrol V6 (6VD1 or 6VE1) its in left head at rear behind inlet manifold
these pictures are for petrol V6, Jackaroo(Trooper) and Holden Rodeo are the same.

find youre thermastat and there is a little plug(temp. sensor) there see if that plug is still plugged up.they do at times come unplugged.

from memory it is in inlet manifold some were in front middle section bottom, (underneath) 4ZE1?
