On a lot of dodge turning the key on off on will make it flash any stored codes count the blinks if it flashes two times pause and then three times that would be code 23
Check your starter switch. That's how mine acted before it went completely. I wouldn't mess with "hotwiring" unless you know exactly what you are doing. Dodges are quirky as it is with their electrical systems.
if the batery is old enough it could be that it just can't hold a charge any more, check that the batery terminals are in good dhap and not curoded, it doesent take much to distrupe the current flow to and from the batery
Make sure everything is turned of,
take the key from the ignition
loosen the minus first to avoid short circuit
then the plus and then you take of the battary clamp.
when putting in the new one clean the batery seat the batery and the clamps.
Rub some acid free vasiline on them and connect them in reverse order.
First the plus then the minus.
