SOURCE: 99 Volvo S80 water pump replacement

if this helps.. I had the 1998 model S70. the water pump was driven by the timing belt. you had to take the timing belt off just to replace the water pump. it was just a simple bolt on replacement. the only difficult issue is resetting the hydraulic tensioner on the timing belt. the hydraulic tensioner has to be completely taken off and compressed VERY SLOWLY in a vise. then insert a very hard drill bit or (special volvo tool) into a keeper hole, reinstall hydraulic tensioner onto car and reinstall timing belt.very quickly remove drill bit from keeper hole in tensioner and the tensioner snaps back out to put tension on belt. and you are done.

SOURCE: 2000 VOLVO S80 HAS A LARGE VACUUM LEAK. HOW DO I

In the past we have used starting fluid to find vacuum leaks. Start the engine, let it idle. Spray quick shots of starting fluid at your vacuum lines in isolated areas. When the starting fluid find the vacuum leak the engine will react to it... usually by going up in rpm. Depending on your engine computer, it may stall the engine. Either way you will find your vacuum leak. Get starting fluid or "ether" at Autozone or O'Reilly.

Where on a 1999 Volvo S80 is the o2 sensor located? And how much are o2 sensors?

Off the top of my head the Volvo has two catalytic converters. The 02 sensors are located just before and just after the catalytic converters so you have 4 total. Look at the exhaust lines and find your catalytic converters. On the top of the exhaust pipes you will see a cable going into each 02 sensor. That is the easiest way to spot them. 02 sensors can range in price from about $40 each (cheap ones) up to about $200 each for the over priced ones. You can get them at most car parts stores or online stores. I have found that online parts stores will usually have a better cost but you have to wait for delivery. Why are you wanting to replace them? Did you have a failure code (check engine) light come on? Do you know the code? If you have a bad one then only replace the one that the failure code tells you to do. Don't just replace them as they cost to much and most times it is unnecessary to replace all of them for a single sensor failure. If you have never done one before you need a special tool (socket) so you don't damage your sensor cables.

Location of o2 sensors on 2003 Volvo S80 2.9L

The problem is... Jolline Troy,

What are you going to do when you know....(see bottom)

Turbo or non-turbo engine???
(I posted TURBO BELOW... easy to change... just look).

Your Volvo is having noticeable issues... and the indicator says Oxygen Sensor... (wrong).

Which means they are sensing something ABNORMAL...
If you put in NEW Oxygen sensors...

You really are going to be out a bit of MONEY...
but the symptoms... running poorly... possibly back firing...
Even stalling (or ... ULTIMATELY ... not running at all...

WON'T GET BETTER...
simply because you changed a SENSOR
.

Your sensor is sensing an ISSUE...
Hopefully... I have convinced you that when your eye beholds Rosie O'Donnell in a ********** outfit... Your eye is not the problem... (do not pluck the EYE out... (Change channels)).

Like-wise... OXYGEN SENSORS detect issues wit EXHAUST SYSTEMS not burning cleanly ... TYPICALLY an EARLY SIGN of a CATALYTC CONVERTER failure... or a rusted muffler... ready to completely block your EXHAUST... halfway across the Gobi, Sahara, Mojave (etc.) deserts... or Manhattan in the commute.

You are MOST likely in the market for a new catalytic converter or a muffler...

Check out your parts prices on ROCKAUTO & AMAZON...
before going to your LOCAL MUFFLER SHOP...

If yu take it to the dealer... they will take it to the MUFFLER SHOP... and add $800 or $1000 to their bill....

It is not a tough job (as long as you know what penetrating oil and gloves are all about... (dirty though).

Hope i'm helping...

Automatic transmission liquid leaking volvo s80 t6 model 99

The most common source of a leak would be the torque converter seal, replacement of the seal requires the removal of the transmission.
