Bypass 2000 Saturn security - Saturn Cars & Trucks

You can't bypass the security system as it is integrated into the engine management and other systems.

The security system is generally disarmed by a coded transponder embedded in the key. When the key is inserted the transponder and the security system talk to each other and compare codes. If the codes match the engine will start.

I guess your new key either has no transponder or hasn't been coded. There is a possibility if your old key is held very close to ignition steering lock (before fitting the new key) then try to start with the new key and it might work.
Sometimes once the system is disarmed a certain sequence can programme a new key - but that is something you will need to take further advice about.

This is a very common problem on GM vehicles. The security system is known to fail. Basically when you insert your key, the system checks for certain signal. If the system cannot get the correct signal from the key, it assumes the key is incorrect and goes into SECURITY lockout mode. (prevents hotwiring) This has been happening with GM's for a very long time. There are ways to bypass this now. Read through this page for info, solutions as well.

i know what issue is.. it happen to my car, i found a module that you can install yourself and it will bypass the security system.., check it out they have great customer service .. I bought it and my car runs great to this day. hope this helps

You can't bypass it. Have to code read. You can buy a new key and program it in. Passlock III is just a relearn.

The security, antitheft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

You can't disable it but you can bypass it as long as the VATS control module is still in working order. Go here to read how to bypass Passkey which was used on all GM cars..

The 2000 saturn runs the passlock system. Unlike VATS its predecesser, this system is much harder to bypass. The old "resister" trick that many people still do, does not apply for this system. So lets start at the basics. The security light flashing indicates 1 of 3 things. The problem in your passlock is either in the KEY, IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, or WIRING before the Theft Deterrent Module (computer). This means you could replace the key or the ignition (whichever is to blame) and you might be ok. You would have to reprogram the key to the ignition. The other option is to bypass it. Unfortunately that costs money also, but honestly no more than a new transponder key and far less than a Lock Cylinder. Just trying to give you all the options. Ya, cutting those wires will definately cause the NO START. Depending on what was done, you might be able to fix it, might not. If not, there are ways to bypass the entire system. Here is some good info on the situation, and some possible solutions.
