This morning my check engine light has come on. i checked the oil, airfilter, alternator give 14,2 volts, engine coolant level, steering oil level, connectors all over the place found nothing out of the ordenary. engine starts in 2 secs.and runs smoothly
You need a code scanner hooked up to it to find out why the light is on.
If there is an advanced auto or an autozone near you, go there and tell them the engine light is on, and you need a code retrieved. They don't charge for this, where other places do. Tales about a minute.
If the check engine light is on, take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve any fault codes that are stored in the car's computer. Most parts stores will perform the scan at no charge and getting the codes will show any faults in the car's systems that the computer has identified. This will narrow down what needs to be looked at and will end speculation. Hope this helped and best wishes.
Did you check the fuel cap? Also auto zone if there is one around will often check out the codes for free.
