Hi and welcome to FixYa,

In a manual 2001 Hyundai Accent, the clutch cable could be adjusted. The adjustment point is on the cable 'pad' where it enters the firewall in the engine compartment.

To adjust, the slack or free play must be decreased. This is done by turning the adjusting nut clockwise. Check back by pressing on the clutch pedal to your preference.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: car stays in gear even when clutch is pressed down

Check the brake fluid in the clutch slave cylinder it may be low or the slave cylinder which activates the clutch may be bad, if the resevoir is empty when checked the air must be purged out or bled out of the hydraulic line, you may want to buy a haynes repair manual for the car to have a step by step guide real time to service the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder.

What is wrong with my 1998 ford courier clutch not engaging?

check for loss of fluid in the clutch system
Yore question contradicts your question
If the clutch is not engaging ( slipping or no drive when in gear) it is the clutch master cylinder that has a blocked compensating port and needs replacing
ON the next statement you say that with the clutch pedal fully depressed you grate the gears and that is the clutch not disengaging
either way you have the answer for what ever it is that you have

Is it normal for the revs to stay up when changing gear in a 2002 4x4 3.0L turbo diesel navara?

do they revs drop off when taking pressure off accelerator pedal when out of gear? if only staying high during gear change it would suggest a worn clutch friction/pressure plate so the engine isn't slowing down when clutch is depressed .I'd also have the OBD codes read to see if there is a sensor/switch at fault , but sounds like the clutch to me

The clutch pedal sticks down when trying to engage

YOU DO NEED A NEW DISC AND MOST LIKELY A MASTER AND SLAVE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYLINDERS, THE STICKING MAY BE DUE TO OVER TRAVEL DUE TO THE WORN OUT DISK.

The clutch doesn't release to engage gears. The engine races and the car moves slowly.

Does your clutch pedal stay down when pressed? sounds more like you have a bad pressure plate, means need clutch replaced

Clutch

the acuating cylinder for the clutch needs to be replaced. this explains why you ahve no resistance when you deprress the clutch peddle. when adjusted right you should have no more than 1-1 1/2 inches of free play in the clutch peddle. and since the car will be in gear with out the clutch being pressed tells me that the clutch itself is good. please rate this
