Take the vehicle to have the service codes read. Could be a pending problem that will soon cause the vehicle to stop working.
Could also be a bad exhaust emissions sensor. If so fuel economy will be reduced and emissions would be higher than legal amounts.
Could also be a vacuum leak somewhere. On older vehicles sometimes the fuel inlet tube starts to leak in air to the tank and this effects vacuum. The engine ducks the firms back to the engine to reduce fumes.
Could also be air intake air velocity and or temperature sensor in the intake area. Used for fine tuning gas to are mixture ratio. If defective you could be running either too rich or leans. Will eventually cause engine valve and or injection problems over time. Reduced fuel economy when not working properly.
These are some common faults for this. There are many more possibilities.
I used to build engines for racing many years ago. I did studies in automobile technology. This is how I know these things.
Means that you need to get it to a service center to have the fault codes read and the problem fixed

Check the Trans fluid level with it running and at operating temperature. Jeep NAG1 transmissions are known to have the input electric seal leak trans fluid. Not an exspensive fix add Mopar ATF4 and then relace the guild seal.
SOURCE: 93 grand cherokee 5.2 V8, red square flashing on VIC display
Wrong. The red square was unique to 1993 and early 1994 ZJs with the VIC. Chrysler offered an oil level sensor on both engines and due to a high failure rate, they discontinued it. The accompanying message should read "Check Oil Level". I had this problem when I replaced my VIC in my late 1994 model with a 1993 model VIC and it showed this message all the time. Check your engine oil level and if it is fine, there is a wire you can short to ground behind the VIC unit to shut it up. That's what I had to do.
Sorry I cannot help you with the wire pinout, you'll have to figure that out on your own. Good luck with your problem and anymore questions, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
