I don't know where the timing pin fits on the Holden Cruze (or Daewoo Lacetti Premiere). The two main places diesel engine manufacturers use is either a hole in the cylinder block/clutch housing flange to line up with a hole in the flywheel - this is often found tucked out of sight under the starter... The other common place is usually accessible after removing a threaded plug from the side of the cylinder block - in this case it is important to exactly follow the manufacturer's instructions as sometimes the pin fits into a recess in a crankshaft web and sometimes the pin acts as a precision stop against the crankshaft. The former pin is usually a plain pin of around 1/4" diameter and the latter pin usually has a threaded portion for screwing into the block...

It is still "smelling"water. flush system with part methylated spirit and water I think 10litre water to 1 litre methylated from memory.

Hi Graeme This one I would suggest taking to Holden for Diagnosis. One really needs to carry out some checks on the engine, Areas to check, Thermostat, is your vehicle loosing coolant possible Egr cooler leaking internally(normally series 2 engine). are the fans switching on? as I mentioned many areas require checking. Is there any internal sludging in the engine? Possible problem with cylinder head. It really needs a qualified person to look at it and plug in a diagnostic computer to see if that gives any clues. you don't, hand brake is not adjustable. If hand brake does not hold something else is at fault. Possible streched cable however it would not be unusual for the handbrake to be high but it should hold vehicle on a hill.

take it to a parts store and have them pull the codes to see exactly what the problem is. Most places will do this for free
