Have you droped your key recently?
The key contains a micro chip thats "speaks" to your ignition system via a small pick up fitted near the ignition slot.
If this is damaged or lost, your car will never start.
Get someone with a diagnostic test machine to verify if your ignition system is getting the start code?
The key is in good shape. I tried turning the key on for 10 mins and the light never went out and still got nothing.

You need to go to GM and find out what defective part is causing this, the most common is the sensor in the ignition lock cylinder fails, then when you try to start it doesn't send a usable signal from the key chip to the electronic module that controls the security system and it locks you out.

(security light should be flashing on and off) step 3: wait ten minutes with key in "on position and driver door open. step 4: when 10 minutes is up-(youll know-because security light will have stoped flashing after 10 minutes) close driver door ,turn key to "off" position, then turn key "on" to start. drives me crazy!! I have to do it to mine sometimes 2-5 times a day! GM doesnt have a fuel reset button etc. like fords do.
