Get under the car and test and make sure all wires to all trany parts have juice when engaged and connections are clean , you can use a spray can of Electronic parts cleaner... if the problem persists test/replace the switch in dashbiard...

Hi my name is Juan and I do own a trailblazer with the same year 2002 and I read the problem you have let me try to help you Have you try to shift to 4hi with your transmission in neutral ? the transmission needs to be in neutral in order to shift the transfer case to 4hi and the vehicle needs to be completely stooped also is your service 4wd light on?? if the light is on your transfer case needs service and it can be as simple as the switch inside your car or a solenoid that has not been detected by the computer

Hello , chances are the 4x4 transfer motor/solenoid on the case either has no power , or has failed. I removed mine from my 2004 Explorer , dis-assembled and replaced the nylor washer and re-assembled and she works.

Sounds like the selinoid on the transfer case is not fully ingaged.....?

I own a Jimmy and have done quite a bit of 4 wheel drive repair on it.
The first thing i would check is the 4x4 selector switch. I know for a fact that these will throw a service 4x4 code if they are unplugged or shorted. They sell for 50-60$ or you may find one at a local salvage yard for cheaper.
Taking this out and checking it only takes a few seconds, just simply pop the switch out of the dash with the edge of your pocket knife.
After you get it out theres a few more tabs surrounding the back plate, and this is where the circuit board is located. I would inspect it visually to make sure nothing looks corroded and also take a sniff of it to insure there isn't a burnt smell.
If it were the 4x4 actuator the lights would still illuminate on the selector switch, it just wouldn't engage the 4x4.
You'r problem is all electrical trust me .

Hi angelsr. Begin by checking the transmission fluid level. It will operate best when it is at the high end of the full range. Once you have checked that and possibly added fluid to the transmission, drive it for 5 miles and then go into 4H. IF it still isn't working properly chances are that the bands on the transmission are loose. Then drive to an AAMCO transmission shop or other transmission shop and have your transmission serviced.
