Your car has a warning light for the alternator, for one.and most of your garages will test your alternator for free if you are their customer. If your alternator is working properly the alternator light on the dash will light when you start the car and then go out all the while the motor is running.
BUY A VOLT METER AT ANY PARTS STORE PUT THE DIAL AT 12 VOLTS WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING PLACE THE RED WIRE ON POSITIVE AND THE BLACK WIRE ON NEGATIVE IT SHOULD READ AT LEAST THIRTEEN VOLTS TYPICALLY YOUR BATTERY LIGHT ON THE DASH WOULD BE ON IF THE ALT WAS BAD THOUGH
Well you can start the vehicle and then unhook the positive side of the battery if vehicle dies alternator is bad if it keeps running the alternator is at least working.
