Cant find starter on 1993 cadillac seville sts
The starter motor on the Northstar engines is underneath the intake manifold,it sits in the valley just above the crank shaft.
Fairly simple fix. I can do these in about 30 min tops. Need to disconnect the negative battery cable FIRST. Remove the engine cover by removing the 4 13mm nuts. Next remove the front for spark plug wires from the front valve cover and just lay them in the back of the motor out of the way. Make sure you mark the wires before removal so you can install them back in the correct position. Next remove the fuel line quick disconnect lines. (may need fuel line tools for this). Then remove the four 10mm bolts holding the fuel lines to the intake. You will also find a 5th 10mm nut holding the fuel line down back by the EGR valve. Now that the fuel line is loose, you just have to apply slight pressure to the rail to unseat the injector seals from the intake. Next remove the 10mm bolts holding the Intake manifold to the heads. (after this you can simply place a piece of wood under the intake on the passenger side to prop up the intake and access the starter) or you can do it the way I would do in the dealership which is remove the 13mm bolts on the throttle body, the 13mm bolts behind the throttle body to the intake manifold. Completely remove the intake manifold and have clear access to the starter motor. Remove the 10mm nut on the starter for the solenoid wire, remove the 13mm nut on the battery positive cable, remove the two starter bolts and remove the starter. I would also clean the intake ports on the head and clean and replace the intake gaskets prior to reinstalling. I have seen lots of people and I myself am guilty of cheating it at times by just proping the intake manifold up but when in the dealership I like to cross all my T's and dot all my I's.
Rule of thumb is follow the Positive cable from your battery down and it should end up to the starter
