Hi I just bought a 2010 Toyota Prius and all the way home (2 hour drive, mainly freeway) my hazard lights wouldn't stop blinking. I didn't turn them on, they started blinking on their own, really fast. We tried pushing the button to turn them on and then they blinked normally, as soon as we turned them off they blinked fast again. Tried turning the car off and restarting it, the lights kept blinking the whole time even when it was off. Drove it all the way home with the hazards going. The faster I drove, the faster they would blink, until they were almost on constantly they were blinking so fast. The signal lights didn't work either. When I got home and turned the car off, they stopped. Then I went up town for gas (slower, non-freeway driving) and 99% of the time it was fine, just a few times when I was first speeding up after stop signs etc. they blinked a few times, but the rest of the time they were fine and the signal lights worked. Not really sure what to think, any suggestions? Is it an easy fix, or something serious?
I have a 2010 Prius that we bought new. It has had no problems, but I can tell you from my study of the Prius that pretty much nothing is simple. The easiest way to reset stuff is to disconnect the a start battery connection. You can look on the net how to start a Prius with jumper cables to the engine compartment, and disconnect the start battery there. If you are not comfortable with that, the start battery is in the rear near the spare tire. Disconnect the negative cable only, wait 15 minutes and reconnect. You may have to reprogram your radio push buttons, but so what. If this doesn't work, take it to a shop (maybe toyota dealership) that can read and interpret the trouble codes for a 2010 Prius. Enjoy the car, we do.

Testimonial: "Thanks so much for both of your answers!! I have driven it a couple more times since and it hasn't had that problem again except a couple times just for a second as I was first speeding up. So my dad thinks it may be because the car has been sitting for a few months and the battery needed a good charge. He says I should just keep driving it a few more times and see what happens, and hopefully that is all it is. If not, I will definitely use your suggestions! :) Thanks!"
I had same issu my car is 2013 Toyota Prius V and the hazard lights keep blinking even when the car was shut up. I got fixed the problem and it was brake caliper pins which were blocked inside the caliper and rusted when I replace the brakes and rotors and did not clean the pins and it became the imbalaced brake force for computer to operate or brake. Try clean the caliper pins and drive for 15km to 20km in the city and it should fix the problem.

sounds like the bulb you have is the wrong resistance the new noen bulbs will do this
SOURCE: tail lights stopped working (keeps blowing fuse)
you could either have a front marker/signal lamp w/lamp grounded and causing this,remember...when tail lights are on so are your frt parking/marker lights on also..... other than that you could have a feed wire worn thru and grounding out to the frame

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!

SOURCE: When failed trun signal bulb,
Try replacing with the same bulb type as was failed. Flasher unit isusually reliant on resistence from the bulbs to what speed that side will flash at when powered. Some of these led type have less resistence and that equates to a faster flash speed. That is why when one bulb blows that side will flash faster or may even stay on without flashing. You could even swap the led to the other side( to confirm.Check with the bulb retailer to whether they have those bulbs with a higher rated resistence in led.If this vehicle has leds as standard, you may need to get the correct type from dealer. Hope this helps or get back with findings if it still has fault after replacing bulb.
