I have a 2017 Elantra GT. There is an undocumented light and chime that is very annoying. I'm told it supposed to warn you that conditions are right for icy road conditions.
It comes on and chimes when the road temperatures are below 40 degrees. It is located in the tach and looks like a snowflake on a highway. Can the chime be shut off as it is very distracting, causing the driver to take eyes off the road.

This could be caused by the deterioration of this small flexible coupler located in the steering column. The good news is you don't need to have the entire steering column or intermediate shaft replaced as most people think. This tiny, $2.00 flexible coupler and two hours of labor could be the answer to your problem.

Audible Warnings Description
The seatbelt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm provides an audible warning for the following signals:
• The fasten seat belt reminder
• The key in the ignition reminder
• The headlamps ON reminder
Seat Belt/ Ignition Key/ Lamps (Warning) Alarm
Behind the instrument panel, on the right side of the A/C module
Looks like it has several connectors to it, just pull the one connector to stop the chime (warning) your hearing. Assume you have one on all the time? annoying isn't it .
The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The radio generates the audible warnings through the speaker. The radio receives audible warning requests via the serial data circuit. If the radio receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:

Fast rate chime (200 pulses per minute)
take the annoying door chime module out , its right there in the fuse box (use your hearing to zero in on it), but ill warn you now then you wont anylonger have the annoying chime you left your lights on and your battery will be dead .
This is the simplest & easiest fix, to make your '94 Cont. drivable, without having to listen to incessant CHIMES beeping every five minutes, due to faulty sensors and electrical glitches from the junk message system. Go under the dash, on the right side of the steering column and remove the plug (10 wires) from the 'warning chime module.' There is a tan/yellow wire in that plug on pin #7--that is the "tone generator" wire. CUT IT.!!! Now, when all of those faulty inputs try to get to the warning chime module--they CAN'T! Problem solved--no more beeping. This does not disrupt the chime from sounding if you open the door with your keys in the ignition, or with the lights still on--it continues to protects you from THAT. Remember to watch your OWN coolant & oil levels--to make sure no REAL problems exist--and you're good to go!
The place that replaced your column is not done. The chime is suppose to indicate the keys were left in the ignition. The column is not properly installed if this is giving a warning with no key.

Audible Warnings
The body control module (BCM) will provide an audible warning for various events relating to the vehicle. The functions that provide an audible warning are the key in ignition, the lights on, the occupant restraint (seat belt) and the park brake.
Key in the Ignition Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime if the key is left in the ignition in either OFF or the accessory position with the driver's door open. The chime rate for this is 150 chimes per minute. The key in the ignition chime has a higher priority than the lights on chime.
Lights on Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime if the park lights are on and the driver's door is open. In addition, 1 or 2 other conditions exist. The key is out of the ignition, or the key is in the ignition in the OFF position, and has not been turned. The BCM will chime at a rate of 200 chimes per minute until the conditions are removed.
Occupant Restraint Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime based on the class II message received from the SDM if the driver's seat belt is not buckled when the ignition is turned to run or crank. The chime rate for this feature is 50 chimes per minute.
Park Brake Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime for park brake when the park brake is applied and the vehicle speed is higher that 3 mph. The chime rate for this feature is 200 chimes per minute.
You can't disconnect anything . The problem has to be fixed .

Telltale Chimes
The body control module (BCM) will provide 4 chimes for each telltale activation per ignition cycle, at a rate of 150 or 200 chimes per minute. The chimes are limited to 1 chime event per telltale for each ignition cycle. The power up telltale function will not activate the telltale chime function. If the telltale becomes active during a cycle then the chime will sound.
The following telltales will activate the chime function:
• Low Washer Fluid
• Change Oil Soon Indicator
• Brake Fluid Low
• Oil Pressure Low
• Coolant Temperature Hot
• Low Coolant Level
• Low Fuel Level
• Antilock Brake System
• Volts Light (Generator)
• Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System (Air Bag)
• Trunk or Hatch Ajar
Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's in the BCM would be the first step in the diagnostic procedure .
DTC B2965
When the ignition key is seated in the ignition switch, the key-in-ignition switch contacts the close, grounding circuit 80. The body control module (BCM) monitors the state of the key-in-ignition switch, the state of the ignition switch (OFF, ACC, or RUN) and the driver's door to control the key-in-ignition chime.
no that is a warning of low oil or low preasure the oil filter can be the problem some of those places use a very cheap filter and some even use very cheap oil that thins badly when hot check your oil level then have the oil changed using oil from a bottle not the usual bulk and take a good filter with you i.e. fram wix purolator...
