SOURCE: purge solenoid location

which vehicle are you actually looking for the purge solenoid on? you have 2 vehicles listed in your question. i'll answer both, lol

the locations are described as if you are looking at the engine from the front of the car with hood open.

on the blazer:

it is located on the left side of the intake manifold just under and behind the throttlebody. it is a canister looking device.

on the silverado:

it is located on the intake manifold on the left side in about the same spot as the blazer. providing the silverado has the 5.3 or 5.7 liter engine. if it also has the 4.3 then obviously it will be the same.

hope this helps!

SOURCE: tuoble code p 1444 purge control solenoid valve

The purge control is to allow the engine to **** gas vapors out of the charcoal canister that vents the gas tank. It will be in the engine compartment, and you should be able to see the canister as a cylinder about 4 inches in diameter and maybe 8 inches high. Follow the tubing to a valve that goes to the intake manifold. The valve should shut off at idle, but open at higher speeds. There is also a diagram in the engine compartment that shows where it is.

SOURCE: diagram for where the canister

3.8 liter - remove the engine cover. As your standing in front of the vehicle it will be located on the passenger side of the engine inbetween the intake plenum and the valve cover. It will have three wires going to it and to vacuum hoses.

3.4 liter - it will be either mounted to the intake plenum in between the throttle body and the EGR valve. It could also be mounted to the coil/module bracket on the backside of the motor in betweent the motor and the firewall. I think its new enough that it should be in the first location I described.

Also on the under side of the hood (if its the original hood) there should be a sticker with a vacuum diagram and the basic location of that solenoid. The sticker could also be mounted on the upper radiator support or the strut tower on the passenger side.

Where is the P0446 evaporative emission system on 200 chevy venture

just part of the emission system .
Wells EVAP Training with Sgt Tech P0440 P0441 P0442 etc

DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum. If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inches H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

I have a1997 suburban 5.7 eng. hesitates and backfires on rapid acceleration.

check that your map sensor has direct (unregulated) vacuum. I don't believe that the purge solenoid can create that kind of problem.

How do i fix code p1143 on 97 mustang

We are assumin gthat you are talking about DTC P1443 - Evaporative Emission Control System - Vacuum System - Purge Control Solenoid or Purge Control Valve fault.

Best guess without pinpoint testing would be the purge flow sensor. This is the most common failure for this code but can be caused by anything that would limit flow across the sensor when flow is commanded by the PCM restricted cannister, stuck or plugged cannister vent solenoid,etc....

On the base model it is located in the purge line between the carbon cannister and the purge solenoid. See pic below for base model diagram(click HERE for zoom)...

Ford escort wagon 1997 code p1443 displayed. what does this indicate & where is the cannister? thank you.

P1443 - EVAP Control System / Vacuum System Purge Control Solenoid Or Purge Control Valve Fault. A fuel tank pressure change greater than minus (-) 7 inches of water in 30 seconds occurred with a purge (fuel vapor) flow at less than 0.02 pounds per minute.

Possible Causes:
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between the EVAP canister purge valve solenoid and the engine intake manifold.
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed (mechanically).

  • Possible Solution:
Check for blockages between the fuel tank, the EVAP canister purge valve, and the engine intake manifold. Check for obstructions in the EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.

The canister is on the passengers side near the firewall if I recall correctly.
