The ignition switch two white writes are hang out but key still turns buy want crank security light flashes

You can either buy a security bypass online or wire in two 15k resistors into the three ignition wires. Pink, green and brown.

i have been having problems with my 2001 pontiac grand am se 2.4 it has been jerking n skipping i put it on a comp at advanced auto parts i got this reading map\boro\circut high output and torque converter circut stuck on i need to know what the problems r and how to fix them i think the first one is a map sensor but i dont know about the torque converter circut can someobne help me i am gonna try n save some money and fix it myself if i can find out what these r and how to go about fixingt them

your key reader is not reading the chip in your key you can either replace the ignition switch cost about 250 dollars parts and labor or i can tell you how to bypass it for less than 20 bucks in premium chat hope this helps

Check your manual if you have it. I believe you need to have the key in the ignition in the ON position for about 10 minutes to reset the security system.

The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The the key and ignition lock cylinder must be replaced to correct this condition, it's just not detecting your key hope this helps or gets you thinking. Check battery connection or try repriming fuel system by turning the key switch on and off a couple times without cranking.

They security light is on in our 95 Pontiac Bonneville it will start up an run for a few seconds then shuts down but it does it every time you start the car what could be the problem
Well, the anti-theft system should prevent the engine from cranking and starting. So if it will crank and start then die, it could be a long list of things. You would need to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related to proceed.
The security light usually means the computer is not accepting the chip in the key. Either the chip is bad or the sensor in the lock cylinder.

The security, antitheft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

My security light is on, on my 97 bonneville, my car wont start does the chip in the key have anything to do with starting it, or the light on?
The chip in the key is not a chip, it is a piece of resistive wire, the key reader See's the resistance of the key is correct and allows the car to start. The common cause of the problem you have is the reader in the ignition lock cylinder. You can't buy that part anymore so you must bypass it, this of course will disable the security system (called the VATS system). Here is how you bypass it, go here to read about the procedure.

If you bypassed it at the ignition switch and not at the Theft Deterrent Module, you have only bypassed a portion of the system. Go to this link for info on the subject.

YOU CAN CRANK VECHICLE BY PUTTING KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH IN ON POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES UNTIL SECURITY LIGHT TURN ITSELF OFF.THEN TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH FOR 5 SECONDS THEN START ENGINE.YOU CANT BYPASS THE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM BECAUSE ITS A FEATURE THAT CAME WITH TRUCK.THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM IS CONTROL BY BCM AND PCM. IF YOUR IGNITION KEYS AND SWITCH IS FAULTY ALSO THE BCM THEY ALL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP AND REPROGRAMMED CANT BYPASS SYSTEM YOU HAVE TO GET IT FIXED.

How do you turn off security system
You can't turn it off, but you can buy and bypass module.

Your Passlock may need to relearn the ignition keys, if the ignition lock has gone bad like my in-laws Grand Am Gt, here is what i did so they will not get stranded any more. Buy a Passlock by pass module for around $70.00. You can orderone from GMPASSLOCK.COM in the mean time try resetting the Passlock. Good luck

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure
1.) Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.) Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start.
3.) Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF.
4.) Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds.
5.) Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes.
The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
6.) Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
7.) With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

Placed new key in ignition and the the security light went on. Took out keep and placed correct key but security light will not turn off and car will not turn on - 1999 Pontiac Bonneville
The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it will gradually prevent the car to start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , this has been the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

had same problem new key stillsame. Eventualy traced to 1 broken wire in ignition cyliner Steering wheel has to come out. cylinder taken oot and resolder wire. Smart locksmith repaired under 2 hours.
